Audiovox SMT 5600 / SPV C500 (HTC Typhoon)

MY phone quit working. The buttons dont work anymore and I want to remove all contacts before I sell it. How can I clear the memory without pushing buttons?

It seems that my 5600 which is running 2003SE is stuck on the "headset" profile. I cannot change it to another one. This is problematic because without a headset plugged in, I cannot hear the caller and they cannot hear me! What should I do? Is there any way I can reinstall the OS? And if I were to do that, where would I get a copy of it to reinstall? Is there another way to fix it besides reinstalling the OS?

I just got my phone which is working great and purchased a 256mb MiniSD card. It's my first Windows smartphone and I don't see a way to format the card once it's in the phone. Downloaded a program that says it should do it but it won't either. I'm sure I've got the SD card inserted properly with the contact facing down. Can I format it while in the phone?

This phone is supposed to play mp4 video and it does, but when I go into full screen mode I just get a black screen but the audio still plays. I use Nero to convert movies to mp4 and then just copied them to the phone using ActiveSync explorer. Is there a better way? Please help.

Has anyone else experienced this when Media Player is playing a video file: I will be watching a video file in full screen mode, and then after about 10 minutes, the phone drops me to the home screen. Media player is still playing the background (audio is still coming through), but the phone has returned to the start screen. This has happened in places where I don't have service (subway lines), so it's not that I'm recieving a call or anything.

Has anyone tried out other video players? Anyone else worked around this problem?

I am very interested in trading in my SE s710 for this phone- mostyly because I like the syncing with outlook and reading pdf files, but the video looks cool too. Anyway, does this phone have a way to program soft keys to easily switch to texting, voicemai, media like I have programmed on my s710a?

Well I have succesfully set up my pop3/smtp isp email acount, but now I am wondering if it is possible to add my hotmail email through the 5600 other than surfing to the hotmail website?

Is Hotmail - IMAP? if so, what do I put for the incoming/outgoing servers for hotmail.

How can I filter incoming calls with my SMT5600 so that I only receive calls from a specified group or contact list?

I had this phone when I briefly tried Cingular and it was the best phone I've used...I never had a use for the keyboard with a smartphone because I only used it to read data not enter data and because of that this phone was small yet could still suit my needs for a smart phone perfectly. I'm hoping that someone might know if Verizon is ever going to come out with something like this (or this exact phone?) for their network?

Can anybody help me with my contacts? I have all Sim contacts and want to get some to the phone to use voice tags on them. My question is, How do I get my Sim contacts transferred to the phone or vice versa? Thanks in advance for any help!!!

I have set up my AV with a gmail and AOL and set the phone to check for new mail every 15 minutes. the device connects to the web fine, but never pops into the accounts. I have set them up and deleted them a few times and nothing works consistently. Sometimes during the middle of the night i will get the alert that it connected and downloaded the emails, but does not connect consistently. the emails will just sit in my inbox. Is there a setting on the phone that i must do to enable access all the time and not just during active data sessions?

anyone else have this issue with the device not connecting to pop or imap accounts and downloading new emails?

I'm not willing to spend for the Cingilar 2125 smart phone just yet...waiting until price drops. So I'm in the process of purchasing either a Nokia 6620 & an Audiovox SMT 5600. Pretty much at the same price.

I have read the reviews and discussions from this site, as well as others. And I just wanted to know what you guys honestly think about these 2 comparisons. Which is better? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. 😁

I just bought an SMT5600 off of ebay recently. Well it finally arrived and seems to be working fine except that I can't get it to sync with my computer. My computer doesn't even seem to acknowlege that it is plugged in. It charges through the USB fine though.

I have tried different cables and even different computers. I used the included software on the CD and downloaded the newest version of active sync.

When I go to activesync and tell it to connect to my phone, it just keeps saying "Your device was not detected."

I hope the phone isn't broken.

I have Cingular service. When I tried to log on to msn.com or Microsoft.com I get this message, passport network, java script required to sign in, I understand that my phone, browser, does not have to the required java script for passport network. How do I go from hear?

I just bought an SMT5600 today, and there are a few things I need since I got no manual 👿 . Is there an "auto update" of clock? daylight savings? Also, can you change the homescreen to show missed calls with a custom wallpaper? Thanks in advance for any help!! 😁
