Cingular guy said they are not releasing the phone
Hey I just talked to a Cingular employee at the mall and he said that they are not releasing a Moto V551, and said the same about the V620. Who are you guys talking to when you talk about how they let you "play with the phone" and tell you how its hitting the market soon? These guys seemed clueless. Or maybe they just wanted to get rid of their V400s... who knows.
Anyway, will this phone come out for Cingular or just for ATT/T-Mobile? If not, then you please help me decide between the LG L1400 and the Moto V400? Think of price as a non-factor (both are fairly cheap). The Moto has 4 MB memory but I heard other problems about its functionality. The LG has a large color outer screen, but just 300K storage for photos and no USB connect. Whadd...

Release date???
Anybody have any info on when this phone might be released??? 😁
I am anxious for a new phone now that I decided to NOT purchase a V710 after that fiasco... 😕
FYI, 473 pages of complaints about that phone & still rising in the Phonescoop forum. That has to be a record!!! (and not a good one at that!) 😉

anybody know the EDGE spec of this phone
I am interested on this phone, and probably get this once T-Mobile releases (and activates EDGE)
it looks like V500+EDGE, but the EDGE class is unknown
if it's 4+1, this'll be good 😉

Will replace V600 @ Cingular
Just found out that we will no longer carry the V600. V551 will replace until A630 comes out. V551 should be available early October.

Will V551 also replace V400 and V300
🙄 Does anyone know if the V551 is also intended to replace the V400 and the V300 as well as the V500? After all the V500 appeared to be a V400 with bluetooth. The V400 and the v600 are of a similar age and we have the v620 coming in the 4th Q of 2004 followed later by the V635 to replace the V600. It stands to reason that moto would be ready to replace the V400 too.
Also does anyone have new price estimates for this phone and the RAZR V3 and the MPx220?

Blue tooth
Does anyone know if the 551 will have 2.0 or greater version of bluetooth. I noticed on the info page that it just said "yes" for blue tooth and not 2.0 which some phones info page does have. ~Drew
Beware of Motorola's Warranty
I purchased an unlocked Motorola 878, which broke three weeks after the purchase. I sent the phone to the Motorola Texas repair center. First they lost the phone then they returned it unrepaired. I have been given several different excuses for Motorola's failure to repair, which includes the following:
(1) The phone was not manufactured in the USA (however, none of the phones are).
(2) The repair is too costly.
(3) The phone was discontinued.
(4) The repair center does not have the parts
(5) Just buy another phone.
To date, Motorola has refused to honor its one year warranty. They have not repaired the phone, replaced the phone or resolved the situtation. During my last call to Motorola, a supervisor just hung up.
IF YOUR CONSIDER...

Does anyone know the screen size of the phone. Will it be the same size as v600 or bigger. Hopefully the phone will be out in sept. ~Drew

Bluetooth
I've noticed that Motorola's been really kickin up the use of bluetooth in their handsets. Now I know that they're a member of the Bluetooth SIG, but is this going to become a standard feature with their new phones?
I'm a big bluetooth fan, I love the convenience and universality of it and would absolutely LOVE for it to become as standard as a color screen has become.

motorola new phones are all GSM!
I think motorola and all other companies are like giving up on verizon and sprint cdma cause it's not worth it! When the world uses GSM and 3G. What's the point?! All the cool looking phones are GSM anyway! WORD!

first post!!!
ok...is it just me or is Moto movin REALLY fast? It's got how many phones that have been announced and not released, or horribly delayed and yet it's continually announcing updates and new phones. For whatever reason the marketing dept. at Motorola has been hyping REALLY early and not releasing in a time frame that allows for American consumer's impatience.
Remember the a840, v710, a630, v180, Mpx220....oh wait...they haven't been released yet. How CAN we remember them if we haven't gotten our hands on them?
