I really wanted to get this phone unlocked and use it with my T-Mobile service. Are these technical problems I hear about with the Cingular versions of these phones or could I still get one unlocked and be ok? Thanks in advance for any advice.

If you want this phone, get the S700, it's the same thing, just different in color and it's 900/1800/1900, which are the frequency's that T Mobile uses, the S710 is made to be compatible with Cingular which uses 800-850/1800/1900.

the s710a dosent have fm radio, and its the only one of the 3 (s700, s7o0i, s710a) that has EDGE capability
...
Im pretty sure when they say S700i, they're talking about the S710. I maybe wrong though.
...
um....NO.
the s700i is the same as the s710a but it has an FM radio instead of EDGE, uses the 900 band rather than 800-850, and is silver instead of black. Tmobile only uses the 1900 band, so either will work, but you can get the s700i now, we dont know when the s710a will be out. also, we dont know what the problem (if any) is with the s710a that is stopping its release. when released, the s710a will be cheaper than the s700i, but i dont know about it being locked/unlocked.

Well then what's the difference between the S700 and the S700i? Or do some people just like to put an "i" after S700 to give it some pizzazz?
...
Here's the Difference between S700i and S710a.
S700i = i represents international
S710a = a represents Americas
S700i has FM Radio
S710a has Edge.
...
That I know, but my question was, is there a difference between the S700 and the S700i, in which case you would have answered No, that it's the same phone except some people may no tinclude the "i" in the title.
So uninformative, gotta find my own answers 😛

the i means that it runs on the 900 band, which isnt used in America. All sony's that are for the 900 band carry an i at the end, 800-850 band phones are under the a title at the end. my theory is that they stand for international (cause we dont use 900) and americas (because this continent for some reason loves 800-850). people are too lazy for letter designatoins, and i really dont blame them. that is why you see some that are just labeled s700.
