In the past, I have gotten my Sanyo 8100, 8200, and 5500 all to connect to the internet through a laptop. Right now, my machine is running WinXP and recognizes the phone as a Sanyo USB Phone & PCS Connection manager detects the phone and waits at the "Disconnected" status, but when I click on "Go", almost immediately it errors out with "the remote computer did not respond." Would this be a driver issues or a software issue or what? Please help me!!!

Sprint: Sanyo MM-5600 Blocking #777
Posted on Sunday, March 13 @ 19:39:16 MST by Christopher_Price

When we reported on PictBridge, a new technology in the Sanyo MM-5600, we mentioned that you would need to change a setting to re-enable the ability to use the phone as a modem. However, the released version of the MM-5600 even with the Modem setting enabled cannot be used as a modem.

This appears to be either a hardware or a firmware issue, and not a driver issue. From what we have found, the phone is actively rejecting external #777 calls. It is unknown if this was intentional or not, but Sprint's track record is to not fix these problems when they surface in phones, as seen in the Nokia PM-6225, and Nokia PM-3205.

Just talked with a representative with futuredial. They informed me that they are working to upgrade a part of their software that will make the phone work with data streaming etc. Hopefully within the next week or so. We will see.

I'm in the same boat as you. A rep at corporate for Futuredial said they had an excellent relationship with Sanyo and were planning on supporting it in SnapDialer but probably some time out. I must also say that this is his comment and I don not represent FutureDial nor have any privilege information.

Yes... I to am in this boat. I did not even think about the fact that this feature would not be supported. DataPilot actually shows the data symbol in one area of the phone support and not in the other. I haven't talked with DataPilot yet but I am assuming that it does not support the data side yet. I have been in constant contact with one of the reps at FutureDial and as GeoIII has stated, the fix may be a ways out. Sprint says that the phone has to be in stand-by mode. I can't figure out how to put the phone into stand=by mode do you. I assume there is a way. Does anyone know how to do this?

Does it mean that if in stand by mode, it will work as a modem according to Sprint?

Sprint seems to think that it will work. However, it doesn't. I am also having problems getting the video to work on the card. I can only view the ones I shoot. Nothing that I download can be seen.

wwejason on the sprintpcs forum posted:

When you plugin the usb cable, it will ask what you want to do: pictbridge, mass storage, or standby. There it is.
