question conserning custom ringtones

ok i'm having a bit of an issue wondering if anyone could help me out. i'm using audiocity to crop songs to ringtone size but for some reason they are turning out to big for my phone. they are turning out around 400k for about a 25 second clip. my question is if anyone has experience using this program what bit rate and Hz will make it sound good but cut down the size? any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance!

Okay first thing you need to do is make sure you save them as MONO not STEREO. That cuts the file size in half. Your Bit Rate should be no less than 96 but no more than 128. If you do this, your 25 second clips should be around 100-200k. Good luck.
