Question about phone when slider is closed and backlight is off to.
If the phones slider is closed an the back light is off does the phone light up when you reveive a call or text message. I guess my question is can you still receive calls even if the backligh is off or do u need to turn it on to receive calls?

The backlight will turn on during a call. Pretty sure you can turn that feature off.

It comes on when you receive the call, but just like when making a call I think it still goes dim and then turns off after the time you have set in the setup options (15 seconds is default I think).
I think this works pretty well in that it lights up to let you see who is calling, but is off for the rest of the call to conserve battery life.
