One Word >>>> UGLY! (More Inside)
But then again so was the v66. Come on Motorola I can understand trying to make an inexpensive flip, but try to make the numbers bigger than a pin head (v66)....lol
Also... how much more could it possibly cost to put the caller ID box on the outside of the flip(v66 and this one).....
Ok I'm done lol....

Deleting Missed Calls
The V 170 manual does not tell you how to delete missed calls. Anybody know of a way to do this?
Thank you.
How do you set up speed dial
I have the motorola v170, and I think it's a piece of junk. But I can't for the life of me figure out how to set the speed dial. When I go to quick-dial on the main menu, it won't let me do anything but look at how they're all empty. And if I change the speed dial under the contact's name, then it won't call them, no matter what I do. Has anyone ever had the same problem?
170 custom ringtones

Capturing Text Messages
A friend of mine has a Motorola V170 and wants to copy some of the text messages he receives and paste them into a document on his PC. Can he do this? What is the best way?
I am not familiar with this phone.
The pros & cons
If your thinking about buying this phone here is some pros and cons for ya. I'll start with cons first. 😈
Cons: The screen is too small for me. The screensaver and the Wallpaper sucks. The 3 games are boring. There is no internet so you cant buy better ringtones and wallpaper. The custom ringtones are not loud enough unlike others. There isnt a broswer.and no camera phone. No caller id.Ugly design
pros:Its easy to use.good text messages.
Ill probably recommend it 2 my eight year old.
Recomendations
This is my first cell phone, so I wasn't really too picky when I bought it. Mainly, I wanted to push the buttons, hit "call", and talk to another person, but I made the wrong choice. (v171)
So, does anyone out there have any recommendations on a good flip phone that is still fairly cheap? Please, no more Motorola. T.T
WHAT A PEICE OF ****
CheapLY made, horrible screen, horrible feauture set. What the HELL is Motorola thinking?

V171: Text messaging
I have been trying to send text messages on my V171 phone (net10), but I can only recieve them, not send them (they take my .5 minutes, and it just says "Sending progress" for about an hour, then takes me back to the main screen without sending it). Is anyone else having this problem? Better yet, does anyone know how to fix it??

Battery Replacement?
Do any of you know where you can find a battery replacement for the V171? They want $40.00 for one.......I can't pay that.
Any cheaper replacements?
Thanks for any replies.
caller id?
😲
Hi
I just got the V171 the other day, & found this group, but what do you all mean that the caller id is on the outside? I know my Nokia 3295 had the caller id. (im subscribed to it)
You mean the 171 does not have the caller id feature? I know when I first used it the other day, I saw the number, but not the name I had stored with their number. (confused)
Thanks.

yeah, it's a mess.
The forum is right. This phone can easily take us back ten years.
After this model quickly flops in tmobile stores across the country, I can imagine the V171 going straight to the prepaid market (where it belongs).
I have mentioned this in a previous thread....why buy the V171 when you can get the V180 for free. The V180 has an external display and a larger main display (it's a no-brainer). It's Free. Free damn it. 😁
So for tmobile to make the V171 competitive against its other models, the V171 must be sold for FREE right from the beginning. Even if its free, what stops consumers from choosing the plenty of other free phones which tmobile offers.

WTF?
Why are they even bothering releasing this thing? are they supplying a magnifying glass too? otherwise, how could you see the screen?
