V360 - mp3 player - "Play Failed"

Having trouble with the MP3 player. Using the USB cable, I can drag/drop a few MP3 files into the AUDIO folder, but the player always says, "Play Failed". The T-Mobile examples play OK.

I am worried about the 192 bit rate - maybe that is the problem. How do you change the bit rate of a ripped MP3 file?

Thanks so much for your assistance,
Lynn

Hi Lynn,

192 bit rate normally would be fine for the v360 as this is what I have loaded on my phone. If you feel the need to lower the bit rate I can only tell you how to do it with iTunes as this is what I use to manipulate mp3's. If you do use iTunes you need to go to: Edit-Preferences (on the top menu)/ Advanced tab/ Importing tab/ Set it to: Import Using: MP3 Encoder, Setting: Good Quality (128 kbps) or High Quality (160 kbps). Now click OK and now load up the mp3's into iTunes you want to downgrade to the lower bit rate. Click: Edit-Select All from the top menu, once all the songs are selected, right click on them and then left click on: "Convert Selection to MP3". When iTunes is fished converting you will now have 2 sets of mp3's. Y...

WoW - Thanks Tony for all the great info. We do have iTunes at home, and will try that out. Not sure what the default bit rate is for the few songs that I tried moving to the phone, but nothing played. I guessed that maybe the bit rate was too high. But it sounds like I should be able to fix everything with the iTunes. The phone came with a 64 MB card, but it sounds like that can up upgraded -which would me more songs.

A T-Mobile rep mentioned that you can even put data files on the card - like a resume, and then sent it as an attachment.

My kids have the V3 Razr, and the same miniUSB connection. Do you know if ringtones or songs can be stored on the V3? My guess is that without an MP3 player, probably not. But maybe the ringto...

The MP3 player is now working correctly. I believe that the major problem was in the ripping of some songs from the CD, to the computer, the bit-rate was too high. This is setable to 192, the limits of the v360. Bit-rate songs of 192 seem to play correctly.

Now need to spend some time on eBay looking for a reasonably priced memory card, boosting space from 62mb to 512mb.

Thanks again,
Lynn
