LG VX-5200 / 6200
why would anyone buy this phone

that is very true there is much better stuff coming down the pipeline. but the reality is that some of us can not afford to wait any longer. i had a motorola t730 for 3 years now and it is on its last leg. i would love to wait. but, i just can't.

For those not wanting MP3's, video, etc. and just want a phone to be a phone and have the camera as a little added bonus this is a nice choice. It's a nice looking phone!

The problem I have heard is that the internal screen is terrible. They went with STN insted of TFT which will save battery life but be a downgrade from the 6100. The Moto V265 is an example of horrible STN screen...I got rid of it after a few days. Other than that this phone looks pretty good for a mid range...I am happy with my 6100...a little bulky but no other problems.

The reason i may purchase this phone is excatly the reason you would not.....with better stuff coming down the pipeline with verizon, that could mean Dec or Jan '07!!! I need to get a new phone and would like to upgrade from my LG6000 but i dont want a phone that is huge and ugly (like the 8100). I want something small that fits in my pocket. I just went and looked at it and the screen is nice, size is nice, and it may be what i get to tide me over till 2010 when verizon releases it's next phone.
BTW, the 6100 might be the uglist phone out there so the 5200 is a breath of fresh air compared to that!!

Are you kidding me this has got be one of the most ugly phones ever. The 6100 looks soooo much better than this fuglt piece of junk. My friend got this phone this morning and returned it 3 hours later. It sucked soo bad.

I don't think the 6100's looks are bad at all, but think the 5200 looks better. Looks like a really nice phone if all you want is a phone (which is supposed to be the first and foremost thing here, right?) and a camera.

Are you kidding me w/ the 6100????? Come on, it is a phone w/ some swirling blue and a slide lens cover....its a phone!! The 5200 is plain, i do give you that, but i would take the plain over the 6100 and 8100 anyday.

You can't really go wrong with the 6100, 5200 or the 8100. LG's are great phones. I have had the 6100 and now use the 8100, though, and LOVE it!

Saw the 5200 at the store tonight. Very nice little phone. Smaller than the 6100 and more sleek. Definately a good entry-level phone.
