Sprint a940 version has 10x zoom
Was just on the sprint website and they list the a940 (which is the same as the a970) as having 10x digital zoom in addition to the 2x optical. Sprint is also including the memory card in the price. I feel like I was robbed by Verizon.

Reading the sprint feature list is humbling. The memory card is only 16 megs. Not very useful. It could hold a few pictures I suppose.
The 10x zoom is pretty marginal to me but the printer support, data cable and bluetooth is a real stinger. I wonder if the interface is faster.
I might try o find one at a sprint store.

10x zoom is included on the a970. You have to set the resolution to 640x320 or less I believe and the the 10x zoom works.

The digital zoom is disabled, even on the low resolution. It makes the sounds like it is zooming, but it definitely does not zoom to 12x.

Sorry but you need to take a closer look. I just did it on my 970. Set the res to 320x240 or picture ID and you can zoom to 12x. You have to scroll down through 800x600 and such.

Why would VZW have any reason to cripple the digital zoom? If Sprint couldn't have added it because thats in the software department.

It was probably unstable or had something wrong with it on high resolutions. Verizon is picky about stuff like that when they notice it on the trials... I think....
