Hot battery
I just recently got this phone and it's fine for my use; contrary to other reviews I haven't had a problem with reception or voice quality.
Normally I have short conversations but today I had a 40 minute phone call and about halfway into it I noticed the phone started to get warm. By the end of the conversation it was pretty hot. After closing the phone and allowing it to sit it cooled off fairly quickly.
Anybody else had a problem like this? Is it just a defective battery or is there a problem in general with this phone and the battery?

I've had Samsung phones in the past and they all have done this. All I can say is it's probably typical. If it really bothers you or you find the battery draining unusually, take it to a Verizon store and they might swap out the battery for you. I guess Samsung has improved somewhat, my older Samsung batteries got hot after 5-10 minutes of use, to the point where I'd have to set it down.

🙂 i own this phone and i had a 3 hour conversation and noticed the exact same thing. its not samsung it is a common defect with CDMA technology because GSM (t mobile, Cingular) samsung phones are smaller, better audio, and dont get hot. Its verizons technology not samsungs.

That is normal. What is going on is the battery is discharging electricity while in use. The heat is caused by this. It is TOTALLY NORMAL. Every battery gets warm to some extent with normal usage. You have to worry if it gets so hot you can't touch it. That means it is discharging more power then it is suppose by a short in the device or battery. This can lead to a explosion. And the last thing you want is a battery to explode next to your face.
