I don't think this is possible, but I have a customer that wants to remove the top and bottom red bar. The VZW software will more than likely not allow this, but I am sure if there is a way, one of you phone nerds have figured it out.

You are correct in the assumption that the vzw software will not allow you to change it , if you want to customise the phone you would need to change the verizon software to the alltel software , the only down side is that you lose vcast but you can still access mobil web pix and text messages and make and recive calls , the software gets rid of the crappy verizon user interface
