Verizon and MPT

I just purchased a Razr V3c from Verizon on Saturday and I am slightly confused by all of the posting here. One person says do this and blah blah can work, another says this can't, but can with xxx revision, etc.

Am I able, with the Verizon Razr V3c, to connect it to a PC and transfer files such as ringtones, pics, wallpapers, etc.?

If the software version of your phone ends in ".03," then you will NOT be able to transfer files, ringtones and pictures etc. using MPT.

If your phone's software version ends in ".02," then you will be able to do all of that transfer using MPT. This was a mistake on Verizon's part and .03 was released to stop consumers from using MPT for file transfer, thereby forcing its customers to pay for ringtones, transfer pics etc., through Verizon's Get It Now service.

If you search for it on this site (if your phone ends in .02), you can find instructions on how to get MPT to read your phone. Good luck! Wish my Razr had the .02 software.

Thanks for the info!! I'm becoming increasingly disappointed with Verizon recently and this is just adding to that frustration.

I hear you on that. I've been frustrated with Verizon limiting phone functionality for a long time. Why do I need to pay to transfer a photo that I took onto MY phone? Anyway, this has been debated ad nauseum.

The call quality is what keeps me as a customer. My niece brought her Cingular Razr over yesterday. Loved the black color and the Motorola user interface. I liked how she had more normal ringtones even though the V3c ringtone sound quality is better in my opinion. If Cingular's call quality was better where I live, I would've switched a long time ago. I've been a Verizon customer since it was U.S. West Cellular and AirTouch.

I actually just looked into Cingular today. However, for what I got from Verizon for just under $170 (phones were effectively free and I got a headset, charger, etc. for 2 phones), I would need to plop down $380 with Cingular!!! I think I'll take the hit on the 25 cents per pic sent through Verizon's network!! heh heh

I dont know why everyone is so hung up on MPT. To transfer a ringtone, wallpaper or picture - just email it to @vzwpix.com

wow that was hard eh?

The ONLY thing that MPT does that is beneficial, is backing up your contact list.

I have MPT, PKSeem, BitPim and all the rest of the tools, so if anyone has any questions at all as to what they should use, please contact me.

Hey mosesonacid, when you attach the ringtone, do you rename the file with the extension ".mid" or ".midi?" Thanks.

What kind of charge is associated with emailing the ringtone to yourself?

Hi,

Do you still need to have the .02 software or firmware or does that even matter if you are sending ringtones and other stuff via vzwpix.com?
I really would like to get a new phone, but all the limitations on the Nokia, and Motorola phones is making me hesitant to buy anything new.

Thanks!
