LG Migo VX-1000
what's the point? just restrict an LG
Ok, so it's a "Shrek phone" and may appeal to little ones. My 7 year old has an LG6100. I can restrict outbound calls to the phonebook only (which I programmed and is also locked) so how is the Migo better? Its the same price, a pain to program (have you read the manual on this?) and more restrictive than a regular phone. If you reprogram the emergency button, how is the FCC, with their drive to make sure every U.S. cell phone can call 911, going to react?

How can you restrict outbound calls to phonebook only? Can you do this with any Verizon phone? I like this phone and think it would be perfect for my 7 year old, but would like it to have more than 4 numbers available (we have a big family). I would like to get a regular phone, but be able to restrict who he calls. Can you explain?

Not all phones have the ability to restrict outbound calling. Someone mentioned the LG VX-6100 allows for call restriction. Your best bet is to contact Verizon Wireless to ask which phones allow call restriction

The E815 will allow only outbound calls from the Contacts list, it will also allow the contacts list to be locked.

On an LG6100, and some of the other LG's and Samsungs via Verizon, you go to system, then security - enter your lock code (last 4 of your phone number unless you've changed it) and go to restrict. You choose to Restrict calls. On the LG, it shows "*Restricted*" across the main screen, and if you try to call a number not already programmed into the phonebook, it says phone is restricted. Note- it does not restrict txt messaging or inbound. Set the phonebook entries first. I set up my daughter's 6100 this way. She just scrolls through the contacts list and chooses which one to call. You don't have to add 911, it's an emergency number so the phone will call it regardless of restrictions. It's all in the manual. You can ask to see the manual...
