anyone who has xm radio... can you access xm radio online on this phone thru their website and the windows media player?

or is it gonna be too slow to use.

This is one of the main features im looking for in a smart phone... if it wont work on this phone, will it work on any smartphones?

thanks a lot

I don't know about XM. But i can stream our local radio station from their webpage and it sounds like the radio. This is as fast as some people's cable modems.

Q sounds like a promising phone....same features as the 6700 but no WiFi....looks more like the Treo, good for one-handed use....if I were you I would wait...

Who the hell would want to stream XM?? Aren't they going out of business?
I can attest to being able to stream the BEST Satellite Service, Sirius, with no problem. However, you do need to use a special program for it; you can't just go to their website and "login" to stream over the net. The program for Sirius is FREE. I believe the XM program cost $$.
The program is used to log you in, and select the channel you want. Then Windows Media opens and the channel starts to stream. There is only a few seconds lag behind actual satellite reception, and comes in smooth with no skips over EVDO.
One complaint I will say, it really drains the battery quick.

XM going out of business? Considering they have twice the number of subscribers and the company is worth over twice as much as Sirius and they have contracts with most of the major automobile manufacturers to include it as OEM; I highly doubt that XM is going out of business.

Both Sirius and XM require you to be a subscriber to access their service even if off the Internet. So if you have a subscription and want to access via your PPC-6700, you're in luck because it works great via EVDO OR WI-FI! Extended battery recommended for periods of long listening.

With Sirius you need the emulator:

Here's the URL for XM:

Thanks a lot bobbo, I do have an XM subscription and checked out that site and it looks like it will work fine... Im going to wait and buy the Q in a few weeks, hopefully.... Will that website/player work on the Q as well or is it specific to the 6700? Thanks a lot.

If your Q will be able to access the 'net at something resembling EVDO or Wi-Fi speed you should be good to go. That XM site has a "Low" setting as well for non zippy connections but the audio is not so hot.

XM going out of business??? HAHA!! 🤣 🤣 🤣

XM didn't hire Howard for 1/2 billion dollars!!!

To break even on that deal, Howard will have to attract rougly 50 million months of paid subscription. Best of luck Sirius, just don't say we didn't warn you when he wanted to come to XM first and XM execs said "500 million dollars? No, what's the real #".

No worries though, I think you guys will enjoy XM even if you're forced to get it because Sirius sinks their own ship.

OPIE & ANTHONY!!! XM channel 202. Spread the virus 😈 😈 😈 😈

I purchased software for my XV6700 called Mobile Satellite Radio that acts as a portal to XM Radio. The actual stream is played in Windows Media Player. With EVDO, it works flawless. No lag whatsoever. This is such a cool feature being able to stream XM radio over my phone.
