Does anyone know how to download and where to find a Java application for the PPC so that it can access sites that require you to have Java?

Java scripts are different from Java applications. This is a feature of your browser, or a plugin for your browser.
That said, it seems Access NetFront is best, only from what I've read. No personal experience...
