If the Q is buggy...
If the Q is buggy at initial release, as one poster suggested it will be, how big of an issue is this? Instead of waiting a few months for them to work out the bugs, I for one would rather take the gamble and buy the phone when it comes out. If it's buggy, can't you just take the phone to a VZW dealer, and they can load updated software, when updates are available?
Thoughts?

That's certainly a good point, and one I hadn't thought of (sheepishly).
In my city the VZW stores are always really crowded and you can expect a 1/2 hour wait to get anything done in there. But maybe you can download the updates from your own computer. That would be the most sensible situation.
I will go back to my contact at VZW and ask about this once some time has passed (I don't want to pester him - we may need him for inside info in the future).

Thanks for the response.
My wife just bought a Razr V3c with the new .04 software. They had intially told me that if the phone didn't come with .04 software, they would flash it for me.
So it sounds like it's straight-forward for them to give us software updates. It has to be a VZW branch that has a tech, so kiosks in malls typically can't flash.

I have the Verizon 6700 phone and took it to a VZ store to have it updated. The gentleman told me that all PDA/smartphones can not be flashed at the store. Any updates to any of these phonnes has to be downloaded from th VZ webste. I do not know if this is true or not,, but that is what he told me. Supposedly, they do no have capability in thestore to do that type of phone.

Another thing is that the next version of the Windows Mobile OS is due out at the end of the year. I'm guessing that it'll have some features that make it work better with Windows Vista (syncing calendars maybe?). It'd be great if the phone can be upgraded. Anybody know how it's work with past Windows smartphones?

This is true. Verizon Wireless retail stores do not have the capacity to upload software flashes for PDA type devices. Everything must be done at home using activesync. As far as bugs.... its a PDA I guarantee you it will have bugs. But I will still be one of the first people out there to have one anyways. 😁

If the Q is buggy, then it is a Motorola.
If the Q is buggy, then it is a PDA...
If the Q is buggy, then it is a piece of technology, and we can only hope that it will get fixed sooner rather than later...
especially since I am in the running to get a Q for free! So let's hope!
