before I buy

I used to have the Sonny E. P910 and its very easy to search for contacts direct in the alphabet letters in the front panel with the numbers. How do you search for contacts (last name) direct in the screen... only with the stylus pen? or how... I need to search and dial only with one hand... is this possible?
