things wrong with this phone

I've had this phone for a very long time and just a heads up to people wanting to buy it:
you can only have about 20 pics depending on the size of them
you can only have 3 downloaded ring tones
yes it does shut off but that only started a few days ago and it's very annoying
the middle buttons wear out [2,5,8,0]
100 texts max in your inbox

i do not recommend this phone

does the lg cg225 break as easily as i've heard?

I've heard that the lg cg225 breaks really easy and shuts off. I just recently had a phone that did that and it was horrible. Now i'm looking for a replacement and I don't want the same thing. Are the rumors true?

Initial thoughts on cg225

I just got a cg225 and am undecided whether to keep it or return it. My current phone that this may replace is an LG vi-125 on Sprint, which I like a lot due to its simplicity, compact design, and call quality.
Things I like so far:
--Ergonomically comfortable to hold and talk on
--pretty good build quality
--call quality seems excellent so far. Probably more clear and natural than my Sprint phone. Also, good range of volumes in the earpiece.
--phone keeps track of minutes and kilobytes you've used. You can reset the counters at any time.
--battery life is excellent
--camera is typical for a lower end camera phone...it could be worse.

Things I don't like:
--The main menu is ugly and can not be changed (it is grid style)
--The f...

im actually a cingular sales rep and this phone is horrible... the phone shuts off by itself and there is no reason for it...
the camera is not good and those clouds are really annoying 😈 ... if anything thats good about an LG is their new LG CU 500 that is the best phone they make. we have 10 -12 returns a week and its all because of that problem!!!

Ringtone Question

I don't know if it's me or the phone, but whenever I set something as my ringtone, when I get an incoming call its not the one I set. I've tried to change it numerous times but it still won't work. Has anyone else had this problem?

I returned it

I decided to return this phone and exchange it for a Samsung d407. You will see that I already have a review posted for the CG225 as well as other comments in this forum. However, I just wanted to add a few more comments to help anyone considering this phone.

I tested the reception for this phone and the d407 by placing a call and then walking down a hallway where there is no Cingular service at the end. I did this a couple times for each phone. The two phones performed very similiar to each other, each losing reception at about the same point in the hallway. There wasn't enough of a difference to pick a winner. So, I would say that this phone has no deficits in the reception department (despite what others may say about LGs).

One o...

Another garbage phone from LG

LG should stop manufacuring phones for Cingular, or just stop making GSM phones period, they suck at making GSM phones and should just focus on CDMA phones which they probably do best.

Look at the interface! It's so... clean... and efficient... look how many fields they fit on that QVGA screen - my Samsung with the same resolution only fits 3 or 4... wow... just wow. Bout time someone gave us something that could even slightly compete with Japanese and South Korean carriers.

VX8400???

Here is what I find interesting.
The FCC site shows that the VX8300 was submitted on 03/03/06 and the VX8400 was submitted on 11/18/05.
However, there is no mention of the VX8400 from CITA.

The FCC site says the External Test Photos for the VX8300 will be up available on 10/14/06, and the External Test Photos for the VX8400 on 05/17/06.

To Rich or Eric

Did you guys notice how CTIA has become more insignificant? There seems like there were less attendance, the venue seemed smaller and not many things were announced this years as was last year.

There was less hype. It was almost quiet.

I was wondering if you felt that and if you think that this is a hiccup for 2006 or an ongoing trend?

Future Helio Handsets (Samsung?)

Helio did mention they had a Samsung handset comming out in the fall after the initial push with a design that has "already been successfull" or something to that liking.

Are we supposed to start thinking SLIM A900 with more features here?

Nokia GPS

Any bets on if Verizon will disable the standalone GPS??

I'm going to say that they will disable it since there would be a competing BREW program

Jitterbug and GreatCall

Now after getting some clarification, I take back the snide remarks about this particular MVNO. It looks like GreatCall has done its research. And I actually dig the Jitterbug phone. It's pretty neat (and damn, are those some large buttons!).

RE: Cingular trying to charge for RRS feeds

I had to laugh at this. $10/mo for the "previlige" of downloading these feeds? I'm SOO glad they aren't releasing the N80. They would have destroyed this phone by first, disabling the WLAN, and then having the audacity to charge for RSS feeds.

RSS Readers

The E61 has wifi and I was wondering how it loads the RSS feeds. Does it use the Wifi connection or does it use whatever connection is available for mobile data (GPRS/EDGE). Also, how does SE implement it on their device? Anything that avoids more data charges is as advantage.
