Nokia 6103 / 6102i
6102i/6103 Reliability?
First, it has low/inconsistent earpiece volume. I've experienced it first-hand as I got to use someone's 6102. Let me tell you it's terrible. Even at the highest volume, this tri-band phone would sound okay to totally inaudible. The lowest volume setting sounded just about as bad as the highest. I'm in the middle of downtown, no problem with coverage. My 4 year old single-band candybar Nokia sounds a lot louder and clearer. Couldn't have been more disappointed. Some have claimed it was the automated volume adjustment setting in the menu, some said that wasn't it at all (it was off when I was testing it, btw). One person claimed it was a ...

Just got the 6103 and am impressed with the things that Nokia fixed from the 6101: earpiece volume excellent, faster menus and a rubberized finish to grip the phone.
About the screens, I think it was more of an issue regarding the reliability of the LCD screens themselves, not really the shell being less protective. It seems even people who handled their 6101s with kid gloves had leaking/spotty/broken screens. But I wouldn't know. It's good to know the new one can take a drop and still be good as new. That's what I expect out of a Nokia. 😁
