Other Cingular Options...

I have been very excited about the anticipated arrival of the 6126, but my 30 day exchange period is nearly over and I may be forced to settle for a different phone if they don't release the 6126 this week.

One of the features I really want in a phone is an available mobile holder so I can charge it in the car and see the display when I am driving. I was told by a Nokia support person that the 6126 would fit in the CR-34 car cradle (same cradle supported by the 6102i) if you believe them.

If that is the case, then I may get the 6102i until I can upgrade to the 6126 later and hopefully reuse the same cradle.

The other phone I was looking at was the 6682. Does anyone have any useful information/opinions on either of those two phon...

Predator VI,

I orginally had a 6682 (like oct/nov of 2005) but at that time the Cingular version had issues w/ Cingular's sim card. Ultimately because of the larger size & the sim issues i traded the phone in for a 6102. I have to admit there are times now i wish i had the 6682 still.. feature for feature the 6682 is better than the 6102.

The 6682 has BT, removable memory card, 1.3MP camera w/ flash; runs series 60 which is much more capable than the series 40 of the 6102.

That said the 6102i now has BT added to it. (6102 does not have BT). The 6102 has IR, but the 6682 does not.

The 6102 power accessories should fit the 6126/ 6131. So if you invest in this you can use the same car adapter, travel adapter etc. Though they do s...

Don't settle for the 6102, wait for the 6126 or buy the 6131 off Ebay.

...a little hard to do with the continual release delay 👿 of this phone. It's mid-August or bust for me. I have a lot of people riding my @#! to get a cell and if the 6126 doesn't hit stores soon I'll just have to get the 6102i and cross my fingers that the 6126 comes out within the 30 day window so I don't have to settle.

Anyone heard something a bit more solid on a release date?

According to information on Howardforums.com a Cingular dealer was told to pull his point of purchase material. It looks like it won't release in August after all, unless something drastic changes. 😳

I'd like to consider that, but I am uncomfortable paying that kind of money for a 6131 that is not officially supported by Cingular. I guess I'm chicken that way, I admit it.

So I still don't know for SURE if the 6126/6131 works with the CR-34 mobile holder, since the pop-port connector is on the top.

That is one area I think Nokia is dropping the ball. People like myself want to know before purchasing a phone if the car cradle/charger is available and Nokia makes it very difficult to get accurate information on which phones have available cradles and if the cradles charge the phone, have external antenna hookups, etc.

Despite the proliferation of blue tooth, driving with a loose phone is dangerous in my opinion, unless you have...
