You can use anything as a ringtone with this phone, even video stuff

Open up your gallery
Go into where you keep your music files
highlight the MP3 you want
Select Options
Select Use tone
set as ringing tone

That should do it

Which version of the phone are you talking about? On the 6133 t-mo may have locked that feature.

The unlocked 6126 I have seems to allow the use of anything as a ringtone. At least all that I've tried (and that includes MP3s).

"Use Tone" is grayed out and not selectable on the 6133.

Sonofabitch!

Why would Tmobile lock this feature? I have a 6131 and since "use tone" is greyed out.... try this way...

Go into settings...
tones...
open gallery...
and try an MP3

Thats bullshit if they lock that feature cuz that means they just want you to buy their own ringtones.

That doesn't work and Yes it is BS that T-mobile has locked this out! If I had known that was the case I would have bought an unlocked 6131 months ago.
Also, the MP3 files that came on the phone and one mp3 ringtone I downloaded from T-Zones cannot be played on my PC when I transfer them there. Windows Media Player does not recognize them, it just comes up with an error that says the extension doesn't match the file format.
My friend just got a Nokia 8801 from T-Mobile and he is able to use any MP3 as a ringtone. So why did T-Mobile decide to block that on THIS phone?

I found a workaround to play mp3s as ringtones on the 6133. You need to convert the mp3s to WMA format, using software to change the bitrate to 64k. You can than transfer the music to the phone and select it as a ringtone. It works like a charm.

The clarity was fine, but others have tried just using an unmodified WMA and got it to work. I will try not changing the bitrate and see if it will work.

It sounds great changing the wma to mp3 and then back to wma, using the highest bitrate. The phone would not play wma dropped straight from music files to the phone, but after conversion it worked like a charm. The music plays as a ringtone.

well if u want to save some time and money, just go to your carriers website (such as MyTmobile) and preview the ring-tone, then right click and go to properties and copy the link and send it as a text message to your phone. on the 6133 just go to the message and copy all and then go to tzones and paste the URL and it will show some kind of security certificate and press accept or continue and then save it... done now you have free ring-tones!!! 😁 🙂 😎 😛 😉

I use software called Tunebite to take wmas and make them into mp3s. I than use software called free mp3 wma converter, found at download.com to convert them to wma. I use Nokia PC suite to open the phone's music files and drop and drag it to the file. From there you go into the 6133's menu>settings>tone>gallery>music and assign that rintone. I would suggest getting a MicroSD card, so you can save more than 2-3 songs on it.

BTW, if you want to use the whole song you can.

You can start off with mp3s and skip the first part. As long as the DRM gets removed somewhere along the line you are ok.
