Bluetooth Echo Problem, any ideas?

I have paired my 8300 with several headsets (Motorola h500, Jabra 160 and Jabra 350, Plantronics etc.) and the call is fine on my end but the person I am calling is hearing an echo of their own voice with every word they say. I have exchanged headsets for the same one to determine if it were defective as well as turned the volume down and still the same issue. Could this be a problem with the phone? I never had an issue with the 8100. Thanks.

Just got the Logitech Mobile Traveler with windstop based on recommendations from these sites. I am experiencing the same issue as you describe.

Sorry to hear that, I hope someone can come up with a solution. I am a couple of days past my 15 day trial as far as the phone is concerned so I hope it is something I am or am not doing that is the problem. I never had any issues with the 8100 which is all I can compare it to.

have you turned down the volume on your headset? If the volume level is too high, it will reverberate back to the mic and cause the "echo" you guys are experiencing.

I have posted the same issue in a former post (8300 + Bluetooth + echo is the title).
I use a Blueant X3 headset. Everyoe hears themself in echo. very annoying.

Sounds like it's the phone the way everyone has tried different headsets. The only constant is the handset. ☹️

I was having the Bluetooth echo problem real bad. I tried 5 different headsets and was about to give up on Bluetooth. Just for grins I took it to the Verizon store and ask them about the problem and got the standard answer "we are not aware of any echo problems with the vx8300". While there I ask to have the software updated as it was rev. 2 and there was a rev. 3 available.
After the software upgrade, NO ECHO!!!!!!

That is why I gave up on Bluetooth. There was never a perfect one with any of the phones I have owned so now I use a Plantronics wired headset and people think I am not on a cell.
They just have not yet perfected Bluetooth to my liking.

I have to say that the Bluetooth on my Samsung SCH-a950 was almost perfect with any and every headset. I think they got the BT right on that phone, but I'm bored with it and love my new 8300, and with the Logitech headset I'm using right now, I have pretty good results. Not as good as the Samsung, but not bad enough to give up my 8300 yet.

Like Mary424, I have also tried several BT headsets, and have used the 8100 prior to this 8300. With the 8100 I settled on the Logitech Traveller, as it gave me the best results out of 6 or 8 diff. brands. With the 8300 I am still using the same Logitech, and have also tried the Cardo Scala 500, a headset that worked poorly with my 8100. I have formed the opinion that BT can be affected by situational (poss. environmental) conditions. I get better results w/the 8300 and Logitech than w/8100 and Logitech. I'm actually quite happy with this current setup, but in the past 3 weeks since I got the 8300, there have been a couple of times I've had to turn off the headset and re-connect in order to get rid of some glitch. I've only had the ech...

I am now trying the Jabra BT500 in addition to swapping my phone out. I simply do not believe it is the headsets. This is the 6th one I have tried and the people receiving my calls are still getting an echo of their voice. I really do not care for the Jabra BT500 anyway as it is not that comfortable.
I have a friend who owns a Motorola Razr V3c which is paired with a Motorola H500 and he sounds like he is callig from a landline and I heard no echo whatsoever. Motorola must handle bluetooth differently. I love the 8300 and find it to be superior in every way save for two. The voice command (awkward) and the bluetooth headset issue. I am not a fan of Motorola but these are the two things I use the most. I will keep trying and maybe I will ge...

I have 7 headsets here and all 7 of them do the same echo problem to the person Calling.

It was the same on the 8100

I love this 8300 more than any phone I have had but my samsungs dont have this problem. It's truly a problem in the LG Phone..

I love when people say their phones dont do it, They are wrong they all do it. Just some people dont complain on the other end of the call , it's worse when the volume it al the ways up, it's unusable.

Moto
Samsung
Jabra VX10, BT160 and Bt350
Scala
Nokia
Sony Ericson

We tried everyone and they all do it , bad when the volume it all the way up..

Bums me out how LG can make a winner with such a problem..

So what is the solution if there is one? Like I said I really love the phone but I use the phone alot in the car. The blutooth sure seems nice if it works with this phone properly. I also use the voice command as well. The 8300 handles this a bit awkwardly. For example "Call Tom", phone: "Call Tom? Me: "yes" phone: "call Tom?" then it begins dialing. It aslo does not ask whether you are calling mobile, home, work etc. like the 8100 did. Not very elegant. I love the 8300 but may actually switch to the Motorola v3m as it seems to handle these areas better. Any thoughts?

zippaul: I questioned LG and they told me with multiple numbers in phonbook say: call Tom home, call Tom mobile, call Tom work. If you just say call Tom, it will use the default.

Refer to MORTFE's reply for the difference in numbers. As far as the long drawn-out prompts, you can change this in the voice command menu under settings, then choice list, then off. This way it won't ask you to confirm it. You would just say "call John work" and it will dial. Also under settings, then prompts, then tones only, it won't say "please say a command", only beep.

Don't say all. I am using the Bluetrek G2 and the Jabra BT500 on med volume. My 8100 is set to Med-High. People on the other end all say 'clear, no echo or static'. My problem is, only the Jabra does not disconnect from headset, probably because it reconnects automatically. I use it all over NJ. Try turning volume down on both headset and phone. Sure hope you're wrong because I just ordered the 8300.
