LG VX-8300
Dang it! Just when I thought I found my next phone...
My contract will be up and my NE2 will be available in about 5 weeks. I've been driving myself nuts trying to decide on my next phone. I finally get settled on one (VX8300) and now I'm reading all of this stuff about the Bluetooth not working correctly! 😡
What's the deal? Is there ANY Bluetooth headset out there that works with this phone? I want one that will let me receive AND place calls by using the voice commands thru the headset. Has anyone found one that will do that ?

I've never had a problem with my Moto H700. Placing and recieving calls have been extremely easy.

Thanks! I will look into the H700. I'm glad to hear it functions well with the VX8300. How do you like that headset? How is it for comfort and sound quality?

Prob is not with BT headsets ability to place calls with voice dialing, it's with the call quality, which can be very good on one call, and then crappy on the next. And the bigger prob is that it almost always sounds good to you as the listener, however your caller will be the one who is getting static and/or echo, and you won't even know it unless you ask them, or unless they tell you. It's not just on this phone either, it's a problem on a lot of phones.

Yeah, I've heard that too. My wife has a BT phone through Cingular (her work provided it) and she uses a BT hands-free car kit. The sound quality can vary quite a bit from one call to the next. I'm going to be getting the VX8300 soon and I just want to get a headset that I will be happy with. I will check out the H700...any other reccomendations?

I have the plantronic 320, and it is a great bluetooth headset. only downside is that you here the other person as if you are on a speaker phone. the other person can't tell that you are on a headset.

Hmmm...I'll have to look at that one too. I was reading some very good reviews about another Plantronics headset (Voyager 510) but it seems very large.

The comfort curve for me is about 1 minute. After which it's almost like it's not there. As for sound quality, it's good on both ends. Not great, but that seems to be a general stat. Sometimes in my car with the windows down, it's better to use the speaker phone, but when walking around it's fine.
BTW....the speaker phone is GREAT, very loud and easy to use the voice dial, etc...

I'm using a Jabra BT350 headset with the 8300. No static, and calls are clear with it. Got it for only $30 in a bundle deal at the Verizon store on the rep's recommendation that it worked well with the 8300. Good talk time, and has a strong call vibrate alert feature -- your ear will definitely buzz!
However, if you get the LG VX8300, you'll want to get the free firmware upgrade to version 03 if the phone is still at version 01 when you buy it. It updates the phone's Bluetooth software and fixes some its bugs. It also expands the usable microSD card capacity maximum from 1GB to 2GB.
For instance, with v01 phone firmware, about a third of the time, the voice call command would stall in the middle when using the Jabra BT350 headset....

I've tried nearly every BT headset out there, for both the 8100 and the 8300 (v 03), and the Plantronics 320R works pretty well (got it at the Verizon store, and suprisingly enough, it was recommended to me as the one that would work best with the 8300 - I guess sometimes store personnel do know a thing or two). It has a small extension with the speaker in it that actually gets inserted into your ear, and the sound from the speaker is limited for the most part to the inside of your ear, so the echo is minimal, and often nonexistent. When you keep the volume on the earpiece low, I have never had anyone indicate that there is any echo at all. And it's static free, although most BT headsets are pretty good with static.
