HT820 Paired But Sound Comes From Speakers Instead

4IP-C-ME

Sorry if double posted; looks like I put it in the wrong forum the first time. HT820 is paired OK; phone functions respond, so clearly paired. My Music plays through the speakers, but not the headphones. Searched chat rooms for hours. Verizon tech had no idea that the unit even supports A2DP; recommended Google or go to the Verizon store where I bought the '820. I gotta think it's a simple menu item I'm not finding, because I find lost of posts from satisfied users.

Would appreciate a step by step guide.

Didn't know it mattered, but I should have mentioned that the music that plays through the speakers is a WMA file, an MP3 converted by WMP10. Also, the phone is brand new, so I suppose has the "newer" firmware that disables the ability to play MP3s directly, as well as the My_MP3 folder.

Just as a guess, the phone manual says that when a bluetooth audio device is connected, USE BLUETOOTH/USE PHONE is displayed in the options menu for a call state. If you select USE BLUETOOTH< sound comes from the audio device. If USE PHONE is selected, sound will come from the handset speakers.

Actually, turned out to be simple but very frustrating. Found thru various Google searches that one must have version 3 firmware for this to work. Phone was brand new, but the store let me leave with version 1 firmware. Went back, got V3 flashed, and worked immediately. Store gave me "Well, we're not allowed to open boxes before sale". I pointed out they could have at least told me it was old FW and upgraded at time of purchase. I then took the tech over to a salesman, asked the sales guy if this phone will play MP3s, and he said "Yes". Blank stares all around. And the VZ & LG documentation, printed and on line, says nothing about this, not even how to check what version is installed. Oh, and VZ Tech Support swore to me that the VX8...

Now we're getting somewhere! Two questions:

1)How can I tell what version of firmware is on my 8300?

2)I was a bit confused by one item in your post. Does V3 make it impossible to play mp3 files, even if the feature is reenabled in the "hidden" service setup menu? I'd hate to have the bluetooth stereo working but no more music! Vcast and WMA are "not an option."

Thanks

Bottom line is this is all fairly easy. Would have always been so if the doggone documentation was worth spit. To find the version:

Menu/tools/phone info/SW version. You are looking for T83VZV03.

Going a bit from memory (only did this once, and it's my wife's phone so not doing this a lot), but next I suggest you reformat the memory card (hold the front cover center key down for a long time? Check the manual). Now it will play MP3s or WMAs. You can copy MP3s directly or use the provided software, BUT, if you copy them in directly it will not know album information. I got Windows Media Player 11 and have been pleasantly surprised that it is a really good product. If you use the VCast software and tell it to use an MP3 it will co...

I THINK I KNOW WHAT YOUR PROBLEM IS.

Is your phone in TTY mode?

Mine was in TTY mode when I got it (used) -- it behaved normally except that it always sent music to the speakers instead of the headphones. I turned off TTY mode and it was fine.

Go to MENU / SETTINGS AND TOOLS / Call Settings / TTY Mode / TTY OFF.

Give it a try!
