Anyone know how to keep the calendar from sounding reminders?

I have this phone and recently it has starterd sounding a reminder for EVERY event in my calendar - even when the reminder setting is set to OFF. Anyone know how to stop this from happening without setting every single event to silent? I would think off was off, but then again...
