The HP iPaq 6925 from Cingular (identical to 6940) is scheduled to launch 2nd quarter.

How do you they are exact? I know wireless company's rename the phones so that they can either confuse customers and probbaly so when they advertise they can use the phrase "excusively" offered.

I stopped by a Cingular store today and spoke with a sales rep. She didn't know they were even coming out with one but she looked up to see if the model was on there list and it wasn't so it means they will not be out with them till like end may or june maybe later. She also said that they get training on them 2 weeks before they are going to hit the shelves. So I'm thinking that they won't be out till June. Man Cingular is dropping the ball on this phone and market niche. They had better drop the price alot to get people to purchase this phone. If they are not going to be out til June I know the UTMS ones should be ready by Dec/Jan but who knows when the dumbasses that run Cingular will get around to putting them in the stores.

Geez Captain Impatience, could you be a little harder on Cingular? 🙄 Not that I particularly care (even though I work for Cingular, but I'm not gonna waste time crying over your criticisms my employer ☹️ ), but think about it: this phone is marginal improvement on the 6515. Why would Cingular bother putting out this device if there's only a few people that would bother with? Just about everyone that would want the features this phone offers would simply get the HTC 8125. The amount of people who wouldn't be happy with either the 6515 or the 8125 isn't nearly enough to justify putting this phone out right away.
Cingular are not dumbasses for not putting this phone out, they're simply satifying the (relatively small) market ...

Um you think maybe the usb might be 2.0 the wifi could be G not b. Blue tooth a 2.0 or 1.2 minmuim. These are things that are standard and minimums. This phone still has old **** on it. 8125 has a slower MHZ. I think if they would have those most people wouldn't complain as much. Also stop acting like you know what we custmers want.

I didn't claim to know what customers want, but my point still stands: the difference between this phone & the 6515 is (to most people) negligible. And the few (such as yourself) who do feel the difference is significant are not enough in number for Cingular (or any carrier) to justify putting it out. That's all I'm saying.

Ok first lets be clear. This has not even gone into hardware testing yet with Cingular. It was due to begin testing at end of March and was delayed, then by mid April, and again delayed. Letest info I hear is end of April but don't know for sure until they show up. The bottom line is they haven't shipped from HP so discussion of what the final specs are is a bit premature.
As for UMTS I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a PDA version of anything this year. The UMTS phones are huge battery hogs when running data, a PDA version is likely to be big, bulky, hot and have a battery life of about 4 hours....
One thing is for sure Cingular with it's size and large customer base is starting to muscle phone mfg's around and they have real...

Question?? If Cingular isn't concerned about such a minor amount of customers buying this thing why are they spending time and money branding two versions? All they had to do is just sell it as it is with the HP brand like they do with other phones such as Nokia. Apparently someone at Cingular wants on the bandwagon. Could be in the way we are going to see it marketed this time around. The ads in Europe are pushing it as a better alternative to the Blackberry, it has a new MS systems and GPS. I don't remember anybody doing that with the previous model here but then again I wasn't shopping for one then.

Oh there's lots of people that would buy this thing, and Cingular has good reason to sell it, but my comment was in response to REIdrew saying that Cingular are dumbasses for not releasing the phone "right now", which was back in April. At the time, the 8125 was still new and the 6515 wasn't all that old. Plus, it's usually not a good idea to start selling a phone as soon as it's available, as some testing needs to happen first. The reason this comes in 2 versions is because of the camera/non-camera devices.

Even the initial version when it came to the field was buggy. This was early may. We had a sofware release in June that fixed a lot of the problems and I think anoher is coming shortly. One of the big things is to market this as a blackberry alternative using GoodLink. GoodLink actually works better on this device than on the previous 6515 model. There are still a few minor items but like I said I think there is a new software release coming that may clear those up.
...
What is "GoodLink"? What does it do?
...
The reason they had such a glut of phones and 6515 are they wait for ever to release them and when they are released they are not up to date, old software, old bluetooth, old wifi. Which is what is going to happen with the 6900's

I get new phones as soon as they come out. I'm a junky. I currently use the Cingular 8125 but might go to the HP 6925/6940. Comments and opinions are very incouraged!! 🤣

Not certain when this actually comes to market but I have had a field test device for a few months and it works better and is easier to use than the 6515 model. Hope that helps. ;-)

Thanks for the update webdr. I know I complained a lot here about Cingular not unlocking their phones I will likely switch to them from Tmobile as cingular covers areas better in the US I travel to. I will still need to get an unlocked version first from HP for travel out of the US but it's good to know that Cingular will have a little tech experience under their belt if I need any assistance after the switch. The tech help at tmobile is horrible and there are still areas in the US if I try to use a certain area code the phone chokes, weird...

I too am considering going to the 6925, I have the 8125 amd i was very dissapointed by the processor speed. dont get me wrong, the 8125 would be the perfect phoone if it had the processor speed of the simens sx66 or if it had a faster processor. the 8125 is packed with features but its over shadowed by the slow processor... that affects every aspect of this phone.
the ipaq 6925 seems like it will be the answers to my prayers.
...
A regular cingular store rep said yesterday that he had the materials on the phone but that it had been delayed a couple of weeks. So know all I need to figure out if I should stay with Congular or switch to Verizon - the "blue" service I have been getting has not been very good [North VA], I don't know if I want to give them another chance. But if I do, it will be with this phone.

I agree i also have had the 8125. Nice phone, but damn is it slow! Hope this is the answer to my speed needs
