Battery Life
I recently received the Samsung A990 after much anticipation however i am disappointed to notice the poor battery life i am experiencing (despite its promised 4 hour talk time etc). Even after making few phone calls and text messages (and very little camera use) the battery life immediately decreases.
I'd like to know- Has anyone else experienced this issue?
If not- what is the best way to resolve it? By buying a new $40 battery (the extended one doesnt interest me bec of its size) or making a $50 insurance claim?

Yes...I have noticed the same thing. Got my 990 yesterday, and so far I'm loving it except for one thing. I noticed the battery life seems to not be so good. Of course, there was the more than usual usage just looking everything over, but I got the phone mid afternoon by FedEx, charged it, and by midnight the battery low message was coming up. Humm. Do I have one of those "defective" batteries...or is anyone else experiencing this? Anybody know of anyone selling the extended battery, yet?
I do have my bluetooth turned "on" on the phone, which could be running it down faster. But, I just came off "The V" where I left the bluetooth on all the time, did texts, Mobile Web, phone calls, pix, and still had battery left at the end of the day.

I have problems too, I have this phone as my second line so therefor I dont use it much, I dont use the bluetooth or have it in EVDO coverage (nowhere close to a fringe area either), I had the phone charged copletely at 5pm, took it off the charger, didnt use it at all, then this morning at 8an it woke me up beeping at me to recharge it, I only got about 15 hours of standby time and didnt use it a SINGLE time!
Im glad other are having issues with the battery and not just me.

Then something is not right.
I did a battery test and got 4 days of standby with no usage on a full battery -or- 2.5 hours of talk time on a full battery.

Just got mine Saturday, and I have NOT experienced any such battery issues. In fact, I charged mine fully that day, and haven't charged it since. Despite taking numerous pictures, it has only gone down to 3 bars today (Tuesday).

I'm reading this with interest cuz first I want to buy this phone and second (full disclosure) I used to work for Kyocera-wireless and I can tell you for sure that battery issues are very real in the industry and fake or counterfit batteries are a hazard of the business; even the pro's can't tell; so you might want to take them back and complain, you could possible get a replacement or at least alert Samsung and Verizon that somethings wrong. We did several massive recalls.

Update:
I bought a new battery to see if the old battery was a defect. The new battery is marginally better but still stinks in comparison to what its life expectancy should be. I am VERY disappointed bec this is a great phone--but whats the point if its always on the brink of death. (How dramatic)

This phone uses a lot of battery due to the lcd screen, its bigger besides other phones.
