Buying phones on amazon?
I am ready to upgrade my account and buy the 8525. I noticed that Amazon had it for what seems like an impossibly low price compared to all the retail stores I have looked at. Has anyone had any experience with buying/upgrading phones from them or should I stick with an actual store?

I called the Cingular sales line and they seemed to be fine with a purchase from Amazon for an upgrade. They said that they will make sure that your current discounts and any bonus minutes you receive are still in tact or they will over ride the system.
The only thing that scared me was that the phone rep said that because the phone may not be locked under the Cingular brand and some functions may not work properly - like text messaging...
I do not know if he was lying or what... but I bet it is a line of bull.
Seems like a good deal to work with Amazon. I am going to buy my next phone from them. The stupid reps at the Cingy stores are TERRIBLE. They act so awful and have no interest in really helping customers make a decision.

they always say that with unlocked phones but everything will work fine....u may have to manually set up data plan settings but it is all on cingy's site.

Local Cingular store by me with a tech dept. are more then helpful with unlocked phone, if you can't set up your stuff, they will inside of a few minutes and install the voice mail phone number.
I will say this, Nokia and SE will SMS your phone and set it up for cingular or any other carrier for the cost, or non cost of an incoming sms message.
