The N-80 was not kept from being released on Cingular because of wifi - it wasn't released because it didn't have UMTS/HSDPA in the 850 band, which is a requirement for all Cingular 3G phones - certain areas of the 3G network are 850 band only or 1900 band only, so a phone that didn't have both wouldn't be acceptable for launch.

Cingular doesn't disable wifi on phones, nor do they decline to carry phones because they have wifi.

The phone should be launching sometime in the month of November.

Although I do not see why they didn't launch both to appeal to people like us (e61)--phonescoop's constituency-- and others (e62). It's akin to the l7 vs. l6 but they did what they did.
