I currently have the 8125. But now I see that a new version(the 8525) is out. so I'm asking anyonw who has the 8525, is it worth the upgrade from the 8125 or should I just keep my phone. I need details, what are the main changes?????? Thanks 😁

I don't have either, but I've researched both.
and desperately want the 8525. may have to settle for the 8125.

differences are as follows, the 8525 has:
- 2x faster processor
- 2.0 megapixel camera w/ flash (instead of 1.3)
- 3G network capable (cingular's new, faster data info.)
- somewhat difference in size/weight...not much from what I've seen.

this is from what I've read, and all my little brain can remember at this moment.

I personally think the substantial increase in processor speed is worth the upgrade...esp. since you can sell your 8125 on ebay or the sort.

Well you can keep the 8125 and use omapclock 850 to overclock the 8125 to 240/252mhz stable. I dont personally think its worth the money to make the upgrade but that is just me and Im waiting for the treo 750. But if you got the money to burn then upgrade to the 8525.

just to state the obvious, 240-252(overclocked) vs 400 (stock) is still a substantial difference. I've also seen people who are overclocking the 8525. not sure what speed they are getting it up to. But I'm sure its impressive, esp....

you pick a date because cingy doesnt know. the 750 still hasnt made it thru testing due to compatability issues with hspda. The goal was before christmas. Im thinking mid January or as late as March. They wont release this phone until HSPDA is working 100% on this phone. Its a major selling point and they dont want a fiasco like the 650 was/still is/will always be.

lol yeah

im having buyers remource for my 8525 a little bit. Dont get me wrong, its a great phone, its just not being very cooperative, and often locks up, shuts off, etc. I dont know what to do. Originally i wanted the 750 or the 8500, and would settle for what came first, and this was it, but i dont know what to do?

since i already have an 8125, didnt see a need to upgrade to 8525. plus i miss the one handed operation of the treo 650 so really wanting to get that 750. Its taken all I have to not bite on the 750v unlocked. For once, I wont justify spending over 700 for a phone.

I agree. You and I are on the same boat. I have an 8125 and Treo 650 and miss the one hand operation on the Treo. Just can't stand the sliding keyboard specially when I'm on the move. Other than the faster processor, I have no other reason to upgrade to the 8525 since I never used the WiFi on my 8125 anyway. My very reliable Cingy source (test engineer) says Cingular has not approved the 750 yet for the same reason that you mentioned. He just received the new software revision for testing and still hoping to get the 750 released before the end of 2006. I'm still being optimistic and we'll see how it goes.

ok tell me this how can I check what speed my processor is working at now and where can I get the program to over clock my processor. Also is that safe cause I know a few ppl who have burned out the processors on comps doing that, I'm not sure if this phone has a good enough heatsink to keep it cool. Let me know.

are you wanting to overclock the 8125 or 8525? As for the 8125, I have had mine overclocked for 6 months and everything is fine, no overheating. Works perfect at 240mhz and 252 mhz...gets a little unstable higher than that.

I want to over clock the 8125. So will the program allow me to overclock in steps or does it over clock on it's own until it reaches an unstable point and then backs down to a stable point???

Where to d/l and how to install program below. I know its quite a few steps but if you follow everything correctly, then it will work. As for a stable point, 240mhz has been the most stable for me and pretty much everyone. I ran at 252mhz for a while and did ok. Had to reset occasionally so I dropped back down to 240mhz.

Here are the step-by-step directions.

1. Download the following file and unzip. Save the OmapClock.exe to your \Windows folder on your device: http://forum.xda-developers.com/download.php? id=9181

**must be logged in to forum to d/l file**

2. Open File Explorer on your device and open Omapclock.exe. Find the maximum speed that your device will handle without locking up. On each test, test all applications you ...

I personally own both devices and use both so I believe I can help here.

The 8525 is a very nice device and a worthy successor to the 8125... but not just yet. For my money, I'd stick to the 8125 since it is much cheaper and the new firmware is very stable.

Unfortunately, the new 8525, like most Windows Mobile devices, has several issues upon release that are very frustrating and have made me put my 8525 away for now and I'm back to my trusty 8125.

The 8525 has some performance glitches and syncing has been a nightmare. Even though the CPU is double the speed, often it hangs on apps and is actually slower than the 8125. My area has no 3G just yet so I'm not missing that yet. The unit, while awesome, is not ready for primetime and ne...
