I have Two
I got my red Snyc May of 2007. I picked it because i like the size of the buttons (not to tiny) and that the text would go to a larger size. It also felt good up to my ear. I am on my third one, it always drops my calls powers off and on all by itself even when its on the table. Also even when I have full signal, the bars will turn from blue to grey, I will try to make a call and it will state emergency calls only. Very annoying. My husband ha got the blue one a few months after me. He loves his has not had any problems like I have. I waiting for my new LG shine to show up today, att is giving me that in replacement of my sync. they have a 3 strike rule. I hope this new phone is better.
awesome camera and mp3 player
At first this was the best phone I've had through an upgrade program. The phone always had and still does have great reception, all the bars were mostly there. but the phone would hang up without notice and the bars on both parties phones were all there. This was not a good thing to have in an emergency situation, so the phone has to go. The music player, Ringtones, ringer options were all commendable, as was the ability and eaze to surf the web. At random times the phone would call numbers in the address book and hang up by it's self. (honestly) The support center had this phone and could not figure out why it was doing this, so issued another new phone. this problem has now been solved, but others might be doing this. so keep track of your call and monitor the phone. Just food for thought for other sync users, otherwise this phone was very good.
I love this phone
It's the 3rd phone i've had in my life and I love it.
Cons
1.Camera Sound (Luckily I deactivated the sound and takes pictures a lot faster)
2.Gets only MMF files as TXT message alert tone.
3.Only reads up to 2gb microsd card.
4.Hard to get a firmware update from samsung.
5.USB cable is needed to put anything onto the phones and is not compatible with any other phones.
Pro's
1.EASY to add games, ringtones, videos, wallpapers through USB.
2.Easy access to the system to tweak it and improve it to it's maximum performance.
3.Battery life is great. Charge it everyday because I listen 2 music on full volume(Extra loud because I tweaked the settings), watch videos(Loud as well because of tweaked settings), play games, txt message and make long phone calls and it still manages to last until the end of the day without fail.
4.Durable. My sister spilled juice on it and it still works.
5.Camera takes good pictures for a cell phone.
6.Screen Size is big compared to other cell phones.
I'd recommend this to anyone who wants a phone but a media player as well. Even though it may not be a piece of eye-candy like most phones it's still a good phone to have for when you're on the go and need something to do.
disappointed
I'm not sure if my disappointment stems from switching from a Sanyo Katana that I absolutely loved to the A707, or if it's because I switched from Sprint to AT&T (AT&T is better, so I don't think that's it), but the Sync has been a major let down. It's a great mp3 player, and the reception on the phone is mostly adequate, but it's really not all that great otherwise.
The camera is super slow to take pictures and heaven forbid you move while taking a picture - it comes out all blurry! In order for me to get shots of my daughter, I need to set it to the multishot setting (which is actually a nice feature). Video capture is decent for a phone.
The Micro SD card is not seen whenever the phone is turned off and then turned back on. In order to make it seen by the phone, the chip needs to be removed and then put back in while the phone is on.
There isn't a way to change the tone for text messages or voicemail (at least, not that I've found, yet).
Gmail mobile will not work on this phone. The web browser on the phone (not sure if that's Samsung or AT&T) is pathetic. Thankfully, I have been using Opera Mini, which makes the phone tolerable.
The basic navigation on the phone isn't nearly as efficient as on other phones I've used.
If my carrier offered insurance coverage on a PDA or smart phone, I'd have gone with one of those, considering how I use my phone. I know the Sync is meant to be an mp3 player in a phone, and the mp3 player part is decent enough. The rest of the phone is seriously lacking, though.
The battery life isn't all that impressive. I have to charge my phone every night and I really don't use it that often. I usually browse with my phone twice a day for about 15-30 minutes each time, and even on those days, I have to charge it at night because I'm down to one bar. If I'm down to one bar, it takes almost no time to go to zero.
In any case, I wouldn't recommend this phone to anyone and I seriously can't wait to trade up for a new phone.
Great Phone
Pros..Great phone with a lot of buttons and whistles. Plenty loud and reception is great. Easy to see and the text is plenty big. The camera worked great and the pictures had good quality.
Cons...I live is a small rural area and we have to use an external antenna to get service. Yes, there are still areas like that in the U.S. Once you hook an external antenna to the phone it will no longer be able to use the internal antenna. (no service anywhere) I now have 2 phones that I can't use anywhere except home hooked to our external antenna.
All in all..I liked the phone as long as you don't have to use an external antenna. I have heard that some Razors have this same problem.
Our Sony Z500's worked great with the external antenna.
Awsome phone
This is the best phone i have had.It plays music, can play games, so many features (such as calculator, tip calculator, world time, timer, stopwatch). It has great reception, you can choose from black red, blue, and maybe pink.(I am not sure about pink).
Coolest phone ever.
Could be better
A nice phone for me getting it free after rebates and whatnot. I'll stick to my Nokia's though.
PROS:
Minimizable music player (In software update)
Looks cool
Big Screen
Big Buttons
CONS:
Must install games over internet
Crappy demo games
Small exterior screen
To many menu's!!!
Cannot remove AT&T contacts
No different menu colors, etc.

Very Disappointing
I upgraded to a Sync on the last day in October. I returned the fist one because the battery life was so poor. The battery life of the replacement has been even worse. It may be due to the poor performance of the internal antenna. Wednesday night I was sitting at the table with my brother, I had no signal while he showed 3 bars.
I called the AT&T help line to see if they had any suggestions. They should rename it the "No Help Line."
