Could be better (as a PHONE)!
Returned the Motorla 710 and tried this. Still have it, but not all that happy. As a phone, it fails in a couple key areas (and that's pretty significant since it is, afterall, a PHONE).
Pros:
-Voice dial (flawless)
-Main display (looks great)
-User friendly
-Earpiece volume great (are you listening, MOTOROLA?!)
-Ringer volume good
Neutral:
-Ringers OK
-Camera is fine for a phone
-Battery life OK
CONS:
-Occasional dropped calls (had virtually none with my last Motorola)
-stub antenna (average reception)
-Have to wait 2-3 seconds after opening flip before speaking, or caller will not hear "hello" (very annoying)
-Size (it's just too big)
-Aesthetics (this is one very UGLY blue-cover phone)
-Flashing lights (why!? oh, why!?)
-Does NOT have voice notes (as advertised)
-Swivel camera is flimsy
Looking forward to the next Verizon Motorola!
wow, so far Im impressed
got it on July 1 and so far its great. Pics n video r great, sound on video is very good (better than expected) and everything incl menu is EZ and crisp and user friendly.A worthy successor to the 6000. A great phone for VZW to launch video messaging. I really like this phone.
Surprisingly unimpressed. . .
I purchased the Samsung SCH-a670 a couple months ago, but because of water damage, I was forced to purchase a new phone. I thought I would try out the new LG everyone's been raving about...
Pros:
- Easy to use menus
- Loud ringers
- Crisp/clear sound quality
- Large and beautiful inner screen
- Allows you to make your own ringtone
- Large outer LCD screen makes for great
picture color ID
- Voice dial has worked great for me
- Allows you to turn off the power on/off
tones (though, they are actually short
and don't sound as annoying as some
phones)
Cons:
- Cosmetically, the phone is entirely too
large and looks like a toy. I'm not a fan
of the blue front or it's enormous size.
- Phone also feels very cheep compared to
the Samsung
- Some ringtones are so loud that they
actually sound distorted
- Unable to turn off outer LCD lights
- No speakerphone
- No Bluetooth
- Outer LCD shuts off completely not
allowing you to read the date/time
- Not quite customizable enough (unable to
change the color of the red bars on the
top and bottom of the screen, etc)
Overall, I was surprisingly unimpressed with the phone. I intend on returning it and purchasing the Samsung SCH-a670 again.
AMAZING
I had previously owned a 6000, and it was pretty beat up from my 2-3 years of heavy use. I always dropped it. It had these weird greasy looking things on the screen from water damage, I wanted this phone immediately because it was an update to the phone I previously had and liked. This phone was also incredibly durable, and I'd always had good reception with it. I don't have any cons. It was excellent
Best phone I ever owned
This is more a salute to a great phone than a review as it is no longer offered. Most phones available today have some technology advances over the LG VX-7000. But, if you are looking for certain basics, you wish for a phone like this.
Pros -
- outstanding speaker dependent voice dialing functionality, simple, easy to use, and always accurate dialing; better than today's speaker independent technology
- large sized, very clear internal screen
- good sized, clear external screen
- ease of use: menus, etc.
- good quality, clear camera w/flash
- good feel, touch, key separation, and feedback from t9 keypad; nice intuitive layout, no "oddball" configuration or arrangement
- tough as nails, tight solid hinge, solid construction overall; five years worth of use, dropping, banging hasn't hurt it
- rubberized surface on front has nice, non-slip feel to it
- matte finish overall hides dirt, scratches, fingerprints; has non-slip feel to it
Cons -
- email access could be better
- the worst thing is they stopped making it or a successor with the speaker dependent voice dialing function
Switching carriers - I'm going to miss this phone
good phone
good phone, I've had it for over a year now and its been a great phone, in truth there are some little issues with the camera. such as: its pictures are a little dark, when you have the resolution up all the way you lose alot of zoom capabilities, and you cant take very long videos on it. but otherwise its a very solid phone. I have only three major complaints about it.
1. the faceplate has cracked 3 times on me now and i have given up replacing it since it just always seems to break, however this could just be the fact that I'm hard on my phones.
2. if you don't use a belt clip and keep it in your pocket the phone tends to become "squished" and on the inside screen are marks from the keys that are extremely irritating.
3. it drops calls alot on me whenever it goes below 3 bars.
I would recommend this phone to most anyone however, it doesn't come with some cool features that newer phones have with verizon such as bluetooth or Vcast but its a very reliable phone.
SweetNess
this phone is the best, i have had many fone for not close of the same amount of time.
all of the other phones that i have had had brocken from being so cheap built.
i had this phone for about two years and i have BEAT THE CRAP out this phone.
Cons:
No Speakerphone
Could have a Better Camera
Other than those few minor things this phone is the best!!!!
Great phone except no speaker
Pros:
-This is the coolest looking phone I've ever seen and I've even had people come up to me and comment on it.
-Camera + video
Cons:
-No speakerphone and low volume. It's difficult to hear people with even a moderate amount of noise.
-Camera has poor light sensitivity and the flash can't be activated during video shoots, making dim light and night time shooting impossible.
Overall:
Although it's not the most practical phone for calling (because of the volume and speakerphone issues), it's an inexpensive phone that looks great and will get you noticed.
When this phone came out, it was one of the first inexpensive phones with video capture, so that was a huge plus, but now, that feature is common.
