the worst phone ever
I just got this phone today the 11/22/06 and everybody was right. This is the worst speaker phone, very poor sound qualiity, and poor camera.
A note on the speaker
Was playing with this phone at work today, and my boss and I noted that the music quality on the 8600 seems to be inferior to that on the Chocolate. If you are buying this phone to serve in any reasonable capacity as a music player, I would strongly suggest saving your money and buying the Chocolate, which has much better sound quality.
The 8600 sounded tinny and noisy, comparatively, and really turned me off to it.

I'm with Alltel in SE AR area. I like their services. I also like the LG AX 8600 phone. I had it about 1 mth now. I like it a lot, I have the blue one (nice). Here are a few Pro's & Con's I have about this one. Pro's: very slim ,good lookin',color display,pic quality,call quality,reception and nice feeling' key pad. Now 4 the Con': fingerprint magnet,battery life needs improvement,no flash, poor speaker phone if it works at all,bluetooth can't connect 2 other phone 4 ring tone transfer. That's about it. All in all this is a very good and well built phone. If you buy this phone I hope u enjoy it as much as I have so far.
I'm a fan
Being a salesman in the wireless industry (for Verizon and Sprint), I see a lot of phones and I get to play around with a lot as well.
My first dive into VCAST phones has been pleasant. I wanted a phone with MP3 capabilities, and I got it. I've been with VZW for years and don't plan to go anywhere else anytime soon.
Pros:
-Very clear calls for internal antenna
-Speaker for music works wonders
-1.3 mega-pixel camera makes for great quality pictures from a phone
-Style is great. I love the RAZR styling with a stronger hinge and more functionality.
Cons:
-Fingerprints. Nothing a wipe on my shirt won't fix
-Speaker during voice calls isn't too clear
-No flash! Come on, the 8300 has it, even the Samsung a870. Come on, LG, this is supposed to be a high-end phone. We wanna take pictures in the dark!
I'm loving it so far. Though I'm excited to try something new when the time comes.
Not pleased
I have had this phone for a couple of months and am not satisfied. All the reviews I have seen for the LG VX 8600 have been good but from my experience I would have to disagree.
Cons
- speaker phone is too low
- battery life was once good but not anymore
- reception is horrible i lose calls all the time ( my room mate has the model right below mine and has reception all over so it is not verizon)
Pros
- it may seem like a weak phone but it is pretty sturdy
- u can view texts without opening the phone ( which is pretty helpful at times)
I am currently shopping for a new phone now because I am so unhappy with this phone.
Great phone
Just got this phone and compared to other LG models, they have definitely went above and beyond.
PROS: Love the sexy look. I use Alltel and there are many "dead zones" around my area, phone gets great service. Voice clarity is awesome. Not sure what others say about speaker phone being useless, it works just as good as any other LG phone and is just as loud. The camera takes great photos, LOTS better than the old VGA style. Ringers are VERY loud and crystal clear. I haven't tried Bluetooth or MP3's yet but a friend of mine has (Alltel also) and she says it works great. Love the fact that you can view text messages from outside of phone (although it's not necessary, it's a nice feature). I think the hinge that opens the phone could use a little more "snap or spring" to it so it opens all the way when you flip it open one handed, but it doesn't take much to get used to opening it one handed, I have no problem. Texting on this phone is just as easy IMO as other phones.
CONS: fingerprints, but who cares, they clean easily. Disappointed no flash, but still takes great pictures nonetheless.

I have had this phone a week with verizon, comeing from a motorola e815. I was skeptical at first getting a phone with no visible antenna, as I like a pull out antenna. I decided to go with the 8600 and im glad i did. This phone gets the same great reception as my 815 did(southern IL). Key pad is a little different to get used to, being all flat. Screens are nice and bright,even in sunlight. Battery is ok, but i got the extended battery which i only have to charge about once a week. I do not use mp3,so i cant comment. Speaker phone sucks, its not loud enough, but i dont use it anyway. I also dont use the camera, but i took a few pics and was quite impressed with the quality. One thing i dont like is where the chargeing port is on the side. Makes it akward to talk while chargeing. Sound quality on both ends is grea. Ear piece is nice and loud.
Pro's:

Sound quality.
Battery life is decent for 800mah.
Con's:
Finger pring magnet.
Chargeing port location on side.
Speaker phone.(not loud enough)
All in all, i would recomend this phone. I will be keeping mine.

I am giving this phone a 3 pecause of the problems i have to deal with.
Pros.

Easy TO Use
OBEX blue tooth.
Cons.
Turns off sometimes.
Presses random buttons.
This will be my second one of these phones and they have big issues with the battery not holding a charge and staying on.
