Samsung SCH-U410

Excellent Phone
I purchased one of these phones from Bestbuy after my contract was up with Verizon, their service was great so I wanted to stay with the same carrier on a prepaid basis. The phone is solid and very well balanced in terms of price and offerings...it was hard not renewing the PDA with IE but I was blown away with the info this little guy was able to render with the WAP browser and the phone calls sound very good too,it has all the basics such as calculator,calender....Alarm clocks just about whatever you need from a basic phone,I have to say that the phone is great and gets a 5 for it's category...and as far as wap browsers go the Google mobile web is fabulous and as I always say with mobile web if the first page does not display correctly you can try one of the other millions of pages and keep in mind that the WAP renders answers which is the bottom line without the fancy graphics
I think...
I think it's a great little phone. The volume isn't loud and it's ringtones are horrible.
There is a website www.myxer.com where you can get ringtones for free as long as you have texting. You can find ANY song on there and even put your own songs and wallpapers on.
You can customize it to make it louder.
Nice phone, but battery life not so hot.
I like small, compact phones. I don't care about music, photos, video, camera, french fry makers or automatic nose pickers. I like a small phone. I really thought the SCH-u410 would be ideal.
Unfortunately, I work in an area that is really challenging to cell phones - very poor reception. You can feel the phones heat up as they struggle to maintain contact with the network.
The poor little Samsung just couldn't hold a charge - from fully charged when I arrived at work to going home 9 hours later the battery would drop 3 out of 4 bars. Not so great, and that's without getting or making any calls some days.
My previous phone was a Motorola W385, which had phenomenal battery life, and I have now exchanged the Samsung for the LG-vx540, which is rated for life near the Motorola.
I wish the battery had a little more juice - I liked everything else about the little Samsung!
Weak Ringer; T9 word options, Belt Cip
I too agree that the ring tones are very limited and too weak and hard to hear even when on high volume. The vibrate mode is also very hard to detect b/c it is so light...I had it on my desk next to me at work and did not even hear it vibrating. Unlike the other reviewer who said that the T9 word in texting was limited and had no word choices if incorrect.....all you do is press "0" on your keypad for more word options. I also do not like the fact that once you have the belt clip on the phone, you must remove the clip entirely in order to open the phone to talk on it. I am not sure if I will be keeping this phone or not...I have 30 days to decide.
Can barely hear the ringer!
Pros: Sound Quality is decent, display is bright and battery life seems average. The menus seem easy to navigate.
Cons: Ringer is VERY quiet. Limited ringtones included. Feels cheap (the hinge on the flip seems very weak and it doesn't close very tightly).
I turned the volume up all the way and even paid $3 for the loudest ringtone I could find and it still was unacceptable. I will be returning this phone tomorrow and trying an LG.
The Best Basic Camera Phone I've Ever worked With
I do not have anything to complain about on this phone. The ringer volume is really loud. The reception is really good. The style is cool and up-to-date. The battery life is excellent. The camera is amazing. Everything about this phone is really good. The ringer choice is good. I have nothing to complain about this phone. Not a thing. A lot of people complain about the little things about this phone. They just need to get over it.
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
