SGH A737 A closer look
Very fast OS, great buy for 3G as this unit can be found on the web for less than 150usd. Samsung users will enjoy all the features this phone has. I purchased mine at pashacell.com and got it in three days. great service.
Just OK Phone
I've had this phone for 2 years and its never been anything amazing, the back gets really hot when charging or playing games, have to charge every other day(and I have always charged when it is completely dead, and did a full charge). Im with rogers wireless, and im not sure if these are software or network problems(all though I have had the phone in for repair through rogers). I've had many bugs with this phone; whenever I get a voicemail, listen to it, and delete it, I cannot get out of voicemail; no matter what I do the automated operator keeps talking for about 3-5 mins, I also get a txt message whenever I get a voicemail, and the only way I can turn that off if if I turn VM notification completely off, and then I don't get any VM notifications at all. And I dropped the phone once, and the back cover snapped off; there is absolutely no way to replace it.... I've looked everywhere and I cannot find a replacing back cover... I guess that's what you get for having a slider phone that can't use a case.
On a good note, the phone navigation itself is pretty easy to figure out; its not a confusing phone.
That's it - Don't buy this phone.
Good Phone For The Average Person
I purchased a Pantech Impact and after only having it for two months, the phone started malfunctioning. I went to my local Wal Mart today and picked up this Samsung A737. So far, I really like it. Here are the pros and cons I have found with this device so far.
PROS
- red
- slider phone
- good for texting
- audio quality for both the ear speaker and speaker phone sound very good
- quad band world phone
- keypad locks when you slide top half of phone down
- good battery life
- physical send and end keys (I had a horrible time trying to end calls on the Pantech Impact)
- microSD card slot
- small and compact
- light weight
- has a digital camera
I could go on and on about the positives about this phone
CONS
- keys are flat
- The way the phone is laid out, where the arrow keys are, it makes it hard to dial when the phone is slid up.
Its ok
The phone is pretty good. I have found that the battery tends to run down when you text. The service isn't that grand either. The memory is good however, and so is the sound.
Great Phone
I've had my phone for 2 years with no problems, except in the last 6 months or so.
I've seen many complaints about the 'flap' over the battery charging slot breaking off, but I've not had any problem with mine, & I've not been overly careful with it.
I usually have only about 2000 bytes of memory on my phone and use my memory card heavily. The phone does get a little sluggish switching from phone to memory card.
There are some problems with its memory status charts, I think. My messaging status tells me I have 200 messages left until it's full, but then I get 5 more messages (totaling about 110), & it tells me my memory is full. When I try to save a new folder of pix on my memory card within the Graphics category, it tells me it's full, but I can save the folder outside of the Graphics category on my memory card. I've only had these problems in the last 6 months, though.
I very quickly fill up my phone memory & have had my phone turn off during heavy multi-tasking while my phone memory is full, but it's pretty rare and there is no following negative consequences like file deletion or corruption or anything.
The video isn't the greatest, but it's to be expected in this type of phone. I do like that you can zoom in while it's recording, though. The camera's fine.
The phone does get hot while charging, but if it gets too hot (which is only if it's charging while inside like an 80 degree car), it'll automatically shut itself off. Only has happened once to mine, & that's because I was charging it in my car on a hot Texas summer day (yes, dumb me).
Overall, it's a great phone. I would recommend it. It's a very tough, durable phone that will last during heavy usage & rough circumstance. It's pretty good quality, I'd recommend it as a starter phone for teens or older adults, as it's not too high-tech but not too outdated.
My phone's demise with me has come, as its speakers have gone out and will not emit sound at all. I suppose I short-circuited the thing somehow.
samsung a737
i had this phone for about 2 years and i dropped it MANY times and it has not froze or anything, but it gets scratched easily.
Pros:
Good for texting emailing and iming.
Has mp3 player.
Good display.
Light weight
Cons:
Battery; if you're a texter like me i wouldn't recommended this phone.
Doesn't hold many pictures.
good reliable phone
This phone has been a sturdy device for my family and friends. This phone has several pros- the slider is durable and easy for text even though it does no have a full keyboard-you can record your own ring-tones and save money-the phone hold a memory card so you can record as many or synch from you media player, as many songs as the card can hold-there are easy to use menus and settings on the phone are so user friendly that my elderly non phone literate mother can use the phone easily. Some people complain of static on the ear piece, but my recommendation for them is to stop slamming the slider down and your ear piece wont malfunction. The only other con I can think of is the size of the phone is rather small so if your have large hands i would not recommend this phone.
samsung a737
I'm not a fan of this phone. I've had it for over a year and a half and the keys are cut from being used even though i hardly text. The most recent problem i have encountered is when i go to charge it . . it doesn't charge. i can't get an upgrade till next year and my warranty is up. this phone is a bummer.
Awesome Phone!
I have had this phone for about a year and a half and it has been great.
PROS:
Even though it says the battery life is only three hours i will text all day and make calls and it will stay with three bars.
The phone is very durable. I have dropped it many times and it has even went through the wash. After it dried out it worked just as good as new.
The menu is easy to read and easy to figure out. The only thing i had trouble finding was where the camera link was. After i found it i just put it in the options menu and had no further problems.
You can set it up to have multiple alarms.
The music player is great and you can have a memory card to hold music too.
You can also listen to music and still do other stuff such as text and go through your pictures and what not.
Able to use ring tones for calls and personalize it to each caller. (also able to use ringtones for texts)
Ah a very big one for me, as my family would like to pick up my phone and look through my messages.
You can lock applications such as "my stuff" and "messages". Very useful if you ask me. :]
CONS:
There is no silent for calls. You can set a profile to be silent for texts but you have to either have it on vibrate or a soft ring tone for a call. Which was unfortunate if it went off in class.
Occationally it would freeze up or restart it self. (although i am guessing it is just from wear and being used a lot)
The camera is slow to take pictures, so if you want an action shot you have to time it just right.
OVERALL i loved this phone and Samsung has been very reliable. There has been very small and minimum problems with this phone and i would deff recommend this phone.
Meh To The Max.
Pros:
-Durable.
-Nifty image editor.
-Fast on 3G.
-Decent size.
-FANTASTIC voice quality.
Cons:
-Horrible reception.
-Horrible battery life.
-Camera is a fool.
-Screen can't show shading.
-T9 is whack.
-Sloooow.
This is a meh phone. It's pretty good. But it's pretty boring too. It's extremely strong. My friend dropped his out of a roller coaster and it still worked.
You can edit any picture on the phone with this great editor. It has the coolest effects. You can change colors, add little symbols, crop, amongst other things.
When this phone actually has signal, its very fast on 3G.
It's pretty thin, comfortable to hold, fits on the ear well.
When talking on this phone, it's great. Voices are clear, plenty loud. Just don't talk too long, it gets really warm.

With my Nokia I'd get 4/4 bars, on my old Sony I'd get 5/5 bars. On this I get 2/7. The meter is so hard to read. When there's no service it shows full bars, but they're grey, not blue. So it's very tricky.
This phone WILL die half way through the day. Promise. If you use it at all. Launching the camera 2 times will make it drop a whole bar.
The camera on this has a little glitch. In the camera viewfinder, the pictures are great, super sharp, great colors. But as soon as you push the button, things turn south. It blurs and turns to crap. Here's the dumb thing. When you go in to My Stuff, and look at the picture again it looks like it does when you're in the camera viewfinder. Sharp. So after you take the picture it looks bad, so you end up deleting just fine pictures.
The screen on this is bright, easy to read, and sharp. But when you have colors it can't display or a whole bunch of gradients it starts to show these weird lines.
The T9 on this phone is horrid. When ever you put in a number, its like adding it to the dictionary. Mine always showed 843 instead of "the." It's really, really annoying.
Now. The slowness. It takes almost 6 minutes to delete a full inbox and outbox. [500 total messages.]
