HTC's flagship device for 2012 is the One X. With it and its siblings, HTC hopes to revitalize its position in the smartphone market. HTC took a new approach to its design, and loaded it with the best tech available. The One X is also HTC's first phone to ship with Android 4.0 and Sense 4.0 from HTC. HTC's best yet, with room for improvement
Owned my One X for about a week now, and there are some things you'll notice about the phone right away! Here's some Pros and Cons:
PROS:
SCREEN - Awesome colors and clarity. From texting, checking email to surfing the web - you're going to really enjoy the crisp feel it gives you.
4G - If you're in an LTE market, get excited. I average 20mbps download, and surprisingly enough, 20mbps upload as well.
PROCESSOR- This Benchmarks out of the box at over 5000 using the Quadrant Standard app. I've compared it to the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket, which benchmarks at 2500. Extremely fast phone.
SIZE- One of the lightest phones I've had. Quite the improvement from HTC with their clunky, heavy phones of the past! (HTC Inspire anyone?) Keeps pretty thin as well, with the only hinderence being the bulge that the camera offers on the back - but this is nothing new from HTC Camera placement.
AUDIO- Beats Audio is implemented seemingly only as a glorified equalizer within the phone. When you're listening to headphones, beats will automatically enable, and you do have the option to turn it off. I've really only noticed a difference in the bass it tries adding to your music, and if you don't have a good set of speakers to begin with, it's gonna make your music sound crackly. If you DO have a solid sound system you're playing it through, you'll really enjoy the extra "umph" it adds.
CONS:
SCREEN SIZE - with it's massive 4.7" screen size spec, it seems like it's going to be similar to the Galaxy Note. You'll notice however, that the extra size is implemented primarily in the height of the screen. Nice for widescreen videos, not so nice when trying to reach ICS's new menu button in the top right.
CAMERA - Not impressed with the quality at ALL. The features in the camera app are sufficient enough though.
SPEAKER - For a phone advertising Beats Audio, the external speaker is horrible for music. I expected much more, my iPhone 4S kills it.
My two cents....
Here are my thoughts for anyone who may be looking at this phone. Had iphone 4, love iOS but hate the tiny screen. Tried the Galaxy S II on Sprint...Sprint service is beyond atrocious in Phoenix. Not a big fan of Android...just doesn't seem as polished as iOS. Got this phone for the LTE service, which is amazingly fast. The phone is big, which I like. I rarely talk on the phone, and mainly use my phone for texting and surfing the net, I usually just use my ear piece if i will be on for an extended period of time.
PROS:
Screen is big (although display not as good as iphone IMO)
LTE is blazing fast in Phoenix, pretty much anywhere you go in the city.
Battery life is WAAAY better than what I got on my Galaxy S II. Texting all day, light surfing, a few quick phone calls, still have 60-65% at end of work day.
Call quality is great so far, on phone, using bluetooth, and using bluetooth through my car.
CONS:
Keyboard kind of sucks. The swype option works fine, but when typing its constantly putting a period after every word.
Vibrate is super weak. Even without a case, good luck feeling the vibration in your pocket.
Camera not as good as hyped. Everything seems to have too much color saturation. Skin is almost red on a person. Maybe I just haven't figured out how to tweak it yet.
All in all, if you live in an LTE area, I would definitely recommend it.
