Nokia 8260

Good phone in its day
I had this phone for 3-years. It was very reliable and easy to use. Nokia's implementation of predictive text is very good. The internal antenna made it much more comfortable to carry in the pocket. It's a very good phone and basically just a miniaturized version of the 6160m of the late 90's. If voice quality is a huge concern, you may want to look elsewhere. Voice quality is okay, but I could hear a background buzz quite easily. People on the other end had difficulty hearing me, as the phone picks up a lot of background noise. I think this is due to the mic being so far from the mouth so it has to be extra sensitive. The phone is not ergonomic; even after 3yrs, it still feels weird to have the mic so far away from the mouth. Its display also touches the ear and attracts body oils. It's basically just a small rectangular box.
This phone is now very old-tech and basic compared to modern phones. It has a low-resolution B&W display, "beepy" ringers, a handful of cheesy games, a simple calendar, calculator, but not much else. It's a nice phone for those who don't care about "toys", ergonomics, voice quality, and just want something small, easy to use, and easy to carry in a pocket.
What's the big deal?
I don't get why everyone thinks this is such a great phone. No speaker phone, No voice activated features, No web browser, the phone book sucks, the screen is too small, and the keys are too cramped. I've had this phone for a year now and I can't wait to get rid of it. If what you want is a very small phone to make and receive calls, then I suppose this is an okay phone. If you want all that wireless has to offer, then this isn't your phone.
great small phone, but
i've had this for phone for 1 year now. actually i've had a replacement (refurbished/ used) unit for 5 months now, after the original one started redialing all the time, and missing calls, even in good areas. and now the replacement one is doing the same thing, so this must be the reason for the discontinuation by nokia.
i went from a 5165 to this 8260, so i loved the small size. but if this is what happens with smaller technology then i'm disappointed. i'm torn as to getting another 8260 or smaller unit, or staying with my back-up 5165 that is still working just fine. just can't keep it in my pocket for long.
nokia 8260
this is the best phone nokia has to offer...........the phone is great..........but the battery could be better!!!
nokia best the 8260
Phone is very easy to use and has great features packed inside. Yes it does not have WAP or voice dialing but other than that it has everything you could really want or need. Has very good audio and the mic is fairly good also. Only comes in three colors from nokia(red, blue, and gray) but there are plenty of aftermarket faceplates out. Easy to use menu system and T9 text input make sms so easy on such a small key pad.
