This phone is the worst phone I have ever had.
Pros
1>NONE
Cons
1. Drops calls like crazy.
2. Get get calls and the phone does not ring.
3. battery life is about 20 hrs standby, 45min talk time.
4. takes 5 hrs to charge.
I was going to cancel my Cingular service because of this phone but I tried a Nokia 6102 before I did and the Nokia has operated FLAWLESSLY.
crappy
this phone is the biggest piece of crap i have ever owned.... the speaker went out within the first month.....the buttons are starting to not work... i cant download any games and the games that are on it suck.
the camera doesnt sucks. and the quality of the audio on the vidoes is really hard to hear.
over all this phone sucks and u should EVER buy it
lucky for me i got it for free
Poorly Engineered Phone
I got this phone as a replacement for an older cell phone that broke. For the first month it was a decent phone, but after that things started going downhill.
Pros:
Small, light.
Cons:
Often displays "Unable To Charge" untill you wiggle the charging cord around for a while.
The antenna no longer picks up any signal except when extremely close to a cellphone tower.
You cannot have multiple phone numbers for one contact.
The buttons on the side, which control the ring options, get easily pressed while in a pocket. Every time one gets pushed, the phone beeps and often changes ring styles.
Bottom Line: The Phone is not very durable and the quality is poor; keeps having new problems.
Can You Hear Me Now??
Bought this phone and thought for sure I would love it. Has all the bells and whistles. Nice looking. Great nonslip coating. But.....
What GOOD is all those bells and whistles if you CAN NOT HEAR the person that is calling you?? If my phone is not on speaker then well, you may as well call me back when I get home cause I'm not going to hear a thing you are saying. Motorola knew this was an issue with the earlier versions of these phone but never bothered to inform it's consumers or offered to recall the MALFUNCTIONing phone. If anyone knows of a fix for this volume issue I sure would appreciate any help cause Motorola without a ridiculous charge of $75. isn't going to help a bit. Everything else on the phone is wonderful but like I said what good is it if you are paying for a cellular service to have a phone that you can just take pictures with and looks good.
VERY POOR PHONE.
reception
THE RECEPTION WHEN YOURE IN TRANSMISSION STINKS FLUCTUATES UP AND DOWN AND THEN STAYS AT LIKE ONE BAR OR 0 FOR AWHILE. I DONT KNOW BUT ITS EITHER THE PHONE OR THE SERVICE PROVIDER
this phone has IMPROVED!!!! i love it...

cool phone
i couldn't be more happier. yesterday i traded in my mpx220 for the v551, but to top it off, i also got my money back for the mpx220. the v551 is a pretty cool phone! the only con i have about this phone is i wish that the ring tones could be louder, and the keypad as well. but at this point, i was so glad to throw the mpx220 into the return box and get a better working phone in its place.
Close but no SERVICE~
I switched from AT&T to Cingular last fall after the merger and picked up this phone. Initially, it was great, I had awesome call quality and never dropped a call. Recently, however, this phone seems to find every gap in service. I get little to no service inside most buildings and drop calls when randomly driving down the street. The phone itself is pretty easy to use and offers good call quality when it works. But finding a signal seems to be it's biggest challenge. I spend ALL my time in large cities where my friends with other Cingular phones never have a problem. After putting up with a horrible Nokia with AT&T, this greatly disappoints me.
I do not recommend this phone unless you live in utopia and a have access to a constant 4 bars of service.

excellent phone
i just got this phone about a week ago and, being the [poor] tech-savvy college student that i am, spent about an hour figuring out everything i could about it. which, as you may already be able to tell, is that i think this phone is excellent. other posts pretty much sum it up - great size, more than fair price [especially for the plethora of features], and so forth. the main display screen shows very pretty graphics, which is great for the fact that you can put your own background on it.
this is about the only actual 'complaint' i have about this phone. being tech-savvy - as i mentioned earlier - i was sure to spend time pairing/synching my phone with my bluetooth laptop and pda. while the pairing process with my computer was quick and painless, either the phone or the pda was being reluctant to pair. i eventually figured it out and whatnot.
in summary, if you've read this far, you should have some idea that i am very pleased with my purchase of this phone.
This phone gets a zero rating here!
Simply because, what good is a phone if your calls are constantly noisy and then dropped?
And here is something very spooky...as I was walking by my land line answering machine one day, the message I have on my recording suddenly appeared in my cell phone while I was talking to someone!
I thought...did my phone ring and I didn't hear it? Nope! SOMEHOW my Moto was catching the recording on my answering machine without the machine even being on!!!
Phone has nice buttons, nice screen, I like it's look.
Buttons on the outside are WAY too easy to push. The rings are worthless and I don't hear my phone ring most of the time. When I DO hear it and answer, more than half the time the calls are dropped.
A phone that doesn't stay connected is worthless to me and the Cingular provider here had better take it back!
I'm scared to get another phone, don't know what's good, and I don't have the dang time to keep messing with it.
(I accidentally posted same info under the Moto 220, sorry to anyone who may have seen that, my mistake!)
