Motorola Hint QA30
Average Ratings
its good for some things.
i know you may not read all this for one phone, but its a good phone just needs to be improved on the bugs and glitches. Texting is fun, especially for the conversation threaded texting. Where i live we don't have a lot of service but on my old phone the Samsung Messager, i had two bars on there. The Motorola hint has absolutely no service where i live.
Pros: Good camera, good video camcorder, keypad is a full qwerty keyboard that you can use with one hand, nice computer like flat screen, you can change the icons on the right side for shortcuts instead of having to go in the main menu, you have a USB charger and sync cord that you can buy for the phone, its kind of heavy but at least you know that you still have it in your pocket, music player is good.
Cons: youtube videos don't like to download on it, buttons on main screen are kind of small, the keypad diamond cut keys hurt your fingers just a little bit, the SD card slot is under the back cover beside the battery, when someone sends you a picture and you have an SD card in your phone and you save it it doesn't show up in your pictures folder until you take out the SD card and then you put it back in, it has a mind of its own(turning on and going off by itself, and it plays music), the other day it wouldn't turn on and they said something about the moisture strip, if you have an SD card and you put videos on it it will not show up in your videos folder or pictures folder but, when you put your SD card back in the computer it shows up.
If this phone messes up one more time I'm going with a different phone.
Alrite phone but would not buy again
I have had my Hint for a year now and this is my 3rd one. The first one froze on the start up screen and never came back and the 2nd ones microphone stopped working. This 3rd one is doing decent, its lasted much longer than the first 2 (the first 2 only lasted a couple of months combined) despite being refurbished. btw: I think it is crap when the carrier (alltel at the time) replaces your new phone that you paid for with a replacement that is refurbished! And while they are replacing the phone they ask you to use an old phone of yours..despite the fact that you paid good money for the phone only to have to use an old phone while they order you a new one.
Pros:
-large screen
-full keyboard
-take good pictures
-size (little awkward but you get used to it)
Cons:
-screen has no cover and can get scratched and smudged easily so you should buy a cover for the screen
- phone does shut off on its own occasionally
-has frozen up and has to be restarted
-can be glitchy (menus will turn gray)
-camera half the time says unable to capture image(I assume because it has no flash that it won't take the picture unless it has sufficient light)
-just tonite the battery has started dying rapidly despite being charged every nite
Overall I do not hate it but when I got the phone it was fairly new and despite researching it throughly and finding people to love it suddenly looking on here I see that people now hate it. The longer I have the phone the more problems seem to pop up. Motorola I am a little disappointed. My old phone was a motorola also and the 2 times I had to wait for my new phones to come in I used the old flip style motorola and it has never done me wrong.
Paid $60 in December 08
Terrible
i have always loved motorolas. but this disappointed me. ive had this phone for 7 months and i cannot wait to get a new one. it locks up at least 2 times a day, ever since it was brand new. the menus become transparent and glitchy when you get more than 100 text messages. and it was my first full-keyboard phone, i hate it. i could text a lot faster and easier on a regular keypad. the keys are so small on this that i have to concentrate to hit each key.
pros:
i cant think of any
cons:
slow
freezes easily
keyboard is terrible
no customization at all besides wallpaper
it just a costly phone... save ya money
this phone is okay... its just a phone... i have have the hint since August and i really did not want it but it was cute...so here i am.
pros...
-its cute
-it has a keyboard
con...
-horrible battery life(when i first got it the phone died every day)
-this phone was not made for the true texters such as myself, the buttons are too small and it easy to misspell words.
-people can't hear u when u talk with the phone closed
- since August i have had 2 problems with the charging of this phone one in which the phone vibrated for a good hour and still did not charge.
- you barely know when the phone is vibrating
- you can't download ringtones
- you can only pick up certain websites.
- the main screen has alot of things that aren't useful and u can't change them.
- the alarm clock is crazy and may set the alarm for like the time you say but instead of AM it may be PM so u must look carefully
- the pictures are fuzzy and just horrible... so not worth the money people
Ed. note: fixed inappropriate typo

this phone is worse than any other phone I've ever owned. graphics r good sounds r good Ive had many many dropped calls, the phone has shut off in middle of call, just recently the screen went out on it. blue tooth works OK. I've had this phone less than a yr and its already trashed know several ppl who have the same phone and have had to get them repaired/replaced within like a yr they have a bad contact problem in the slide after a little while

QA30 non touchscreen gem
Have to say as a guy with big hands and fingers, this little thing is surprising. I did not get the internet package for the mobile internet through USCellular...but I think they let the gem of a phone they have here slip right past them.
I feel as though it's a premium phone that slides.
my thumb can cover nine of these keys, but the diamond cut really does help. I've owned the LG260 and hated the hangups with the way the keyboard stuck, or the keys were slow to respond after a week of use - even with software updates. That was with Alltel, and I generally loved their service.
Moving to USCellular I decided to get a moto phone, most my family has one. I wanted a music player and all the features I could get without a smart phone.
I tried the LG Rhythm and liked it, but felt too much like it was built for flash...
The Hint was and is everything I need. If you charge on the wall charger and don't mess around with car chargers, the battery stays awsome! I use a JupiterJack, and The music plays great through my radio in the car, even picking up calls is easier this way for me. There's no empty bass from the music quality (I use high sampled mp3s). With the included data cable and a little no how, you will never have to buy another ringtone or wallpaper. The menus are set up coherently, and as others stated, the display is crisp and clear. The Photos the camera takes are pretty good, and the editing tools provided for that respect are actually not bad. I was surprised for sure.
It is a little boxy, and holding it in the closed position is a tad strange when on a call, so I slide it open to give more grasping room. If you do drop this phone I have been lucky with four drops. just some bare minium scraps and it's still going.
Good reception and a great bang for your dollar. Consider this if you need more out of your phone! Try it for a few weeks and I'm sure you'll see how good this is.
Perfect Phone
Had the phone for 3 days and have used it constantly. It is great. No problems. Motorola upgraded the software and fixed all of the known problems, and even though my phone was new with the new software, there was an update at the Motorola web site, easy to download, has the features of a smart phone but does not require the $30 a month data plan. I am a US Cellular customer and use easy edge for $9.95 a month and get Internet and email client.
Pro's, small, compact, big screen, bright clear crisp screen, great keyboard, fast, EVDO, 2.0 camera, video capture, music player, great battery life, great strong reception, fast screens, micro SD card, etc.
Con's - none
I would definitely recommend this phone to anyone that wants the features of a smart phone but does not require a $30 a month data plan.
Great Phone!
I love this phone! I've had lots of other phones and Motorola is the best brand I've ever had in a phone!
Pros:
THE CAMARA IS AWESOME!
Memory is great
HUGE screen!
Love the Slider Feature
I like the setting that lets you close programs when you slide it closed or you have to option to continue using the programs closed.
Yahoo IM is convient
Navigator on phone lets you find destinations
LOVE that you can make ur own ringtones!
BlueTooth is GREAT
BATTERY LIFE SUPERB
Text message inbox seems infinite lol
Call logs seems infinite lol
The Ringtones are nice and LOUD!
Cons:
The Keyboard pad is smaller than i would like but I can deal with it.
Cant change the icons on the main screen but thats not a big issue
on the Alarm you can only set 3 alarms, I'd like 5 lol but its all good
OVER ALL A REALLY EXCELLENT PHONE!
