Motorola v60p / v60s

Very dissappointed
After eagerly awaiting this phone for over a year, I was ecstatic when I finally got it. Great looking phone, wonderful interface, strong structure. Sound quality is AWESOME, even when using the speaker phone. The PTT feature works extremely well, also. My disappointment, however comes not from the structure, sound quality, or functionality of the PTT, it comes from the phone not ringing. In the past 24 hours, I have received 15 voice mails from people whom went STRAIGHT to voice mail, and considering my phone never gets shut off, this shouldn't be an issue, especially since the vm alerts come through IMMEDIATELY. If you're looking for a phone that is used for business, or even if it's very important that you receive calls, I would highly recommend that you do not choose this phone. I, myself, am going back to my LG-VX4400, that is until my VX6000 camera phone arrives tomorrow! Verizon's service is far superior to any of its' competitors, this phone just leaves a bad taste in my mouth for Motorola. Also, if you're a big text messenger like I am..the iTAP software in this phone comes nowhere close to the ease of use of T9.
Motorola V60p
I've had the Motorola V60p since the day that it has come out. Overall the phone is great!
Service on the cellular end is top quality as always from Verizon. The PTT side of this phone is almost just as clear. It took alittle time to get used to using it though. It's similar to Nextel but also very different. After a little practice this phone has been a great tool. The only down side that I can come out with on this phone is the battery life. Its horrible!!! I totally suggest a car charger. Once Motorola comes out with a software upgrade to fix this I would rate the phone a 5.0!!! Being a tech and working for Verizon Wireless I've seen every phone they have put out of the last 3 years. I would never put my name on something that isn't good. This product is a definitely a fun and very useful tool. I would suggest anyone to get it if interested!!
Verizon Rocks
Now I have had AT&T(Sucks), Nextel-phone service on this phone is horrible. For instance on one city block your phone may work good go a few feet and the phone goes dead. The PTT feature works good once you get a good signal. Ah....Now Verizon there phone service works wonderful the PTT to be honest is not as good as Nextel but it is good enough for me to cut my Nextel Phone and opt for Verizon. I can use my PTT/cellphone from verizon in a garage my basement where I could not use the Nextel. I do not know about you but I would rather have a cell phone that works and having a PTT that works also is just icing on the cake. Hey some may say it is not as fast as Nextel but at least you can get your calls and PTT with Verizon!!!!!
Keep walking!
There is nothing good about this phone. I returned it to Verizon after two days due to constant dropped calls. Get a LG 4500, has a killer speaker phone compared to the V60s. Time to sell my Motorola stock!
Cons:
Hard to read displays. Way to small for quick glancing!
Display icons are very grainy, low res
Drop calls and more dropped calls! Won't hold a signal
The buttons cheap feeling and not tight.
The buttons you use the most are way to small and flush.
Battery like sucks! Really, really bad!
Menu navigation to find things is very bad!
The manual is written very poorly. No diagrams!
Indicator light will eat battery even faster!
Hard to open lid.
Poor phone book. Does not group phone numbers
Pros:
Easy to turn on and off!
Good looking aluminum case
Not much else!
V60S rocks
I just got this phone and must say it is great. The biggest plus is the speakerphone. After making a few calls, people could not tell i was talking on a speakerphone. Classic styling and reception of the v60i plus a speakerphone. Cant beat it.
OK if you don't mind Voicemail
I'm the Director of Telecom for an Insurance company who previously had Nextel as our Cellular provider. We moved to Verizon when the added the PTT and got in 20 v60P's. Within the first month, we have swapped every single one of the out with LG4400's and totally dropped PTT in favor of something that works.
Pros:
-Speakerphone was great!
Cons:
-A day didn't go by where I didn't hear a complaint (or experienced it myself) about missed calls going straight to voicemail.
-Very slow PTT. I realize this is still new to Verizon, but it is a Con.
-Coming from Nextel, I didn't like that their wasn't an option to have speakerphone on always if it is PTT and not on for regular calls. It is either on for both, or off for both.
Tremendous!!!
I have had this phone for several days now and I absolutely love it. My favorite feature is the speaker phone, which I have found to be loud and clear.
PROS: Size, feels solid, speaker phone, ringer volume, voice activated dialing, layout of buttons on side of phone, user interface, call quality, Verizon's coverage, PTT.
CONS: Screen size (after having a phone with a color screen, color is not important for me), speaker phone is turned on inadvertently when extracting phone from holster.
awful phone
I bought this phone for me and my daughter from verizon, and the battery life, sucks she does not even use her phone and after charging it all night at work about 3:00 it tells her low battery and then turns itself off, she has had to swap the phone three times, changed the battery twice, and even received a new charger, and this is within the first 15 days of having the phone, I'm sorry i bought it for her, the birthday present turned into a nightmare, she has had it a month now and rarely is even able to use it, she had to carry her charger to the job with her, my phone does the same thing, and it drops calls regualry, i had 9 dropped calls in one day. I will never tell anyone to buy this phone it is a piece of junk her in Cali and i am very frustrated. the company i got it from does nothing but keep replacing the phones, and Motorola has done nothing about it but say take it back to where you bought it, i am completely dissatisfied with the phone. nextells is much better.
Top Performer, Underrated
I have a closet full of phones. We've currently got five phones on VZW. The v60s is one of the best phones I've owned or used.
The RF performance is as good or better than any phone I've used. The speakerphone is loud and clear. Build quality is great. The user interface and features are fine -- I didn't need color or a camera or a PIM. Importantly to me, it is one of the few tri-mode phones still offered by VZW.
The only possible weak point is battery capacity, but when I compare real world battery life to other phones with slim batteries, the v60 is in the zone. Any phone will run longer on a higher capacity battery, and the V60s is the same.
Thumbs up on this one -- it's a keeper.
