Great Phone
i just got this phone today and it is way better than my e105. its basically just an upgraded version of it. it is a little expensive but its worth it. its features are way better than the e105. it has a camera and video. its an all around great phone and i highly recommend it to anyone.
Great phone! BUT very POOR sound quality
I got this phone a few days ago.. I was so excited. It looked really small and cute, just like i wanted. The features weren't bad either. I was really keen about the external photo caller id. I thought it was an awesome addition to the phone.. Picture quality is nice, and very clear. Unfortunately, as i started making calls, the person on the other end wasn't able to understand what i was saying. I had to keep repeating myself just so that person could hear. He said i was talking too loud and maybe the mouth piece was too close to my mouth, which in that case it was not. I also called my mother and her too gave me the same complaint. I had to keep repeating myself just so they could understand, and sometimes it wasnt fully understood. It was also sometimes hard to make a call. The call kept disconecting even tho i had full connection service bar. Texting was also a pain. the t9 feature, i just can't stand. It makes texting awkward having it all in caps. Overall i thought the appearance of the phone is great. Very sleek, very small, the sevice light made is cute, the external caller photo id made this phone unique from the rest, i liked how we can self portrait. This phone wouldve been a keeper with no question, but the sound quality just blew it for me.. Im off to find a new phone.. sadly to say...
Thoroughly Impressed
Im a dealer and ive seen alot of phones...camera phones especially; and this is just a really easy to use, fun to have, hard to dislike phone...highly recomended
Excellent Phone! Poor speaker
This is a well crafted handset. The screens are clear and crisp, the navigation is user friendly, small, sleek and attractive. The problem is I upgraded from a Moto V300 which was an excellent phone for me, but I was ready for a new handset. When comparing the 2 phones, the Samsung has audio quality issues. I've owned this phone for 10 days and have had a dozen or more complaints of echoing on the other end. I regularly call voice mail just to check the audio quality for crispness. It doesn't compare to the Motorola V300. The speaker is tinny or vague, no true "land line" effect. With my Moto V300 I could be driving in a car and people will ask if I am at the office.(noise reduction) The conversations can get muddled with this Samsung E315. I love everything about this phone except the most important part-audio quality. If you are someone who has never experienced clear sound on cell phones, then this phone will suit you fine.
Nice Phone!
Great Graphics
Loud ringtones
Very compact size
Clear camera
Can take 15secs video which is awesome.
It will hold 2,000 contacts (wow!)
I would recommend this excellent phone to everyone!
this phone rocks!!
this phone is great! it has a pretty good reception {and i live in the boonies} and barely ever drops calls. its sleek small and the screen is spectacular. i am pretty satisfied with this and have taken out insurance in case something might happen to it. the ONLY draw back, this camera while it uses the same technology as nokia for dark shots {camera draws in all avaiulable light} it still is grainy {vga cam for vga quality} so cam could most definatley be improved.
Ummm.... not quite happy
I got this phone just today, I even had T-mobile send it next day delivery because I was so eager to have my hands on it. I am that kind of person that changes phones like every six months average so I pretty much have an idea of what features I like. I had a samsung V205 which was good, Motorola V300 another good phone, then last month I got the Nokia 6600. A great phone indeed, very good operating system, I know it is slowwwww, but I like it because it can store the home address, multiple phone numbers, not to mention very clear pictures and an ok video. The down side is, its quite big for my tiny hands. So, with all these things in my head, I thought samsung E315 will finally solve my dilemma. Very tiny just like the E105 that I also own, plus suppose to have the great features of Nokia 6600 that I love; camera, video, clear pictures and all the good stuff. Well, guess what, it doesn't seem to be all that good to me. The pictures do not come out crisp and clear like the 6600, even Moto takes clearer pics than that. And the one thing that annoyed me so much is when I take a photo and assign it as a wallpaper, my picture looks distorted, somehow my face is vertically stretch to fit the screen. The t-mobile customer service guy just said that's how the phone is designed- not a very smart thing for samsung to do. How I wish there's something I can do with the settings to fix that distortion but I don't think there is. I am just about ready to box it up and return it and go back to my Nokia 6600. The only thing that's preventing me from doing it is the smallness of its size - really good for petite Asian women like me. Sorry for going on and on about the negative aspects of this phone. It has its pros too: great outer screen, if you assign a photo caller ID it comes out good; face not distorted. Ideal for people that would rather have the small size than great features in a cellphone. I hope this help those who are considering getting the E315.
Worst sound quality I've ever heard from a cell phone!
I had this phone for two weeks, and that was all I could take. I actually really liked the phone, except for the speaker and sound quality. The phone is small, light and has a great screen. I loved the outside caller ID in full color. It's really a nice add-on. Took pretty good pictures also. Video is neat to have, but always choppy. However, the sound quality while talking to others is WAY TO LOUD AND DISTORTED!! It's like there needs to be a way to turn down the volume another two or three notches. I spoke with several friends, as well as T-Mobile customer care, all stating that the clarity of my voice was not a clear sound, almost distorted. I thought I could deal with it, but after an agonizing two weeks of people blaring in my ear, I decided to go back to Motorola for the clarity of sound. It was actually a hard choice to make. If it had not been for the sound quality of this phone, I would still have it, and I would've rated it at a 4. Another downside is the new 10-pin headset connector. You can't just use any 2.5mm jack for this phone (way to go Samsung). Instead, you HAVE to use the headset it came with (which also sucks in quality and sound), or buy the 10-pin to 2.5mm adapter from Samsung (which has yet to be in stock). To sum up: Buy this phone only if you're deaf.
Not as good as i was hoping.
Let me start off by saying that I have always been a motorola fanatic. This phone just reinforced my belief that motorola is the king of phones. I got this phone from Tmobile for my motorola v300 which i'd had exchanged a few times for malfunctions.
Pros:
very small size
full color outside display (which you can have picture id on as well)
video capture
Cons:
The screen is so TINY compared to my v300. any pictures aren't really worth looking at anyway because they all weird looking on that screen.
Video capture is pointless unless you're less than 2 feet away from whatever you're trying to record.
Camera says same resolution as V300/V600, etc. it's just choppy and pixelated.
Sound quality is just... well... it's just not right. I don't know if it's static or what it is. can't pinpoint it.
No speaker phone... 'nuff said.
Inability to turn phone on silent without vibrating. I use my phone as a clock when i'm at work and it will either ring or vibrate, there's no total silent mode like the Moto's.
The camera snap sound is UBER-loud. even when the keys are turned down, it is way loud. If i'm at work and trying to sneak a picture, that whole 50 decibal CLICK defeats the purpose.
The side button turns down the KEYPRESS volume? c'mon what is that.
All in all, one new feature and a much smaller size really don't do enough for me when all the similar features can't cut it in the quality that the motorola can. The v300's are discontinued and the E315 is almost the top of samsung's line for tmobile, and yet i'll take this thing quailty wise ANY day over the E315. I am putting it back in the mail to tmobile tomorrow.
I'm taking it back...
I got this phone to replace my crappy T610, and I like it. I read several reviews, and most were things I could live with. Sound quality usually isn't as bad as it's made out to be, etc. However, I was extremely disappointed with a few things that were not mentioned!
1) The phonebook is overall easy to use, but has one MAJOR fault. The sim card/phone book entries are not clearly seperated. It's just all on big phone book. Copying numbers FROM your sim card to the phone book must be done manually, one number at a time, which is extremely tedious. I decided to use only my sim card; this poses a problem as well: Multiple entries under the same contact name will share the same contact name on your sim card. In the phone, it's fine because they are listed properly, but if you put your sim card into another phone, you will have 3 Mom entries, 3 Dad entries, etc. That's REALLY irritating.
2) Pics. The quality of both the pictures is ok, but messaging and actually using th pictures is ALL bad. First of all, you can ONLY use pictures that you yourself take as caller ID pics (the ones stored in the "My Photos" menu). When someone sends you a picture or you download one, it's saved in the "Images" area of the "funbox" menu item and can only be set as wallpaper. That's crazy, because I've got friends across country that I can't have caller ID pictures for... because I can't take a picture of them (except from my computer screen).
3) No "silence all" feature. That's irritating because I like the little sounds for opening/closing, but they get in the way if I'm in a quiet setting, so I'm forced to turn my phone all the way off, or go through a million steps to silence each item.
4) No way to delete downloaded ringtones?
Overall, this phone is nice, but I'm paying too much for the features to not be able to really use them.
PROS*: excellent face value, lightweight, vibrant color, great factory installed sounds
CONS*: the above, + sound COULD be better!!
