Love it!

Dec 31, 2007 by lennydude

I had the LG Voyager but could not deal with the sound volume and call quality. I do plan on getting version 2 of a similar phone but for now, the V9M will work well for me.
I miss a full keyboard and other neat features I had with more "complex" phones but in all honesty, I never did use that stuff much anyhow.....more bling than anything :)
This phone works just like the E815 I had and wore out. It is a much better phone IMO at least. Love the looks and feel of the phone and call quality and volume is awesome. Ring tones and volume are awesome.
It lets you transfer your pics and music to the phone off the card so you can use them as wallpapers and listen to your music without the card:) I have 2 different animated gifs on the phone right now. The VZW V9M lets you have different wallpapers inside and outside :)
Ring tones can be transferred via Bit Pim so that is not a big deal. I find the card issue not a problem at all for me. I never take it in and out much at all.
All in all, it is a very nice phone, I gave it a 4.5 instead of a 5 because the battery is a "bit" weak. If your the type that is on the phone all day or does texting all day then you will not like the battery.
You can buy an extended battery but it makes the lower half of the phone thicker and eliminates the "razor" effect......lol.
Fits in my pockets or belt holster well. I honestly will be able to love this phone for at least another 2 years :)

HelloMoto... I like you!

I purchased this phone a few months ago, and I am very pleased with it. Each person looks for something different in a phone; my main concerns are being able to send and receive picture/text/and video's, and this phone does each of those thing with a no problems.

PRO's

* The phone allows you several different text options... like T9, predictive text, and type out. This is nice if you are used to using a certain type of text, because it accommodates all the different styles.

* By using I-tunes, you can clip songs and save them to the mini sd card and apply them as ringtones... so you can make your own ringtones! (THAT IS A HUGE PLUS FOR ME)

* This phone takes excellent pictures!

* I have had no problems with it freezing up, dropping calls, or getting a signal.

* The applications are very easy to use.

* The touch sceen on the front of the phone is nice for checking incoming texts.

* I really like how you can change the order in which the applications are placed, along with the lists of options.

* There is a lot of pro's about this phone, so it will be easier to list the cons...

CONS

* The charging slot is in a really bad spot, especially for charge and talk. The flap on the side is apt to come off.

* The stock battery does not hold a good charge

* The video quality is not very good.

* The thing I dislike most about the phone is that if you assign a ringtone to a person, that ringtone is applied to text, call, or picture mail. You can't silence the text and keep the ring... its either all silent or all your selected tone.

Overall, I think this is really neat phone, and am satisfied with the quality of it. There is too many good things to list about it, and each day I figure out something new and find it even cooler than the day before. The best feature is being able to make your own ringtones and its compatibility with I-Tunes!!!

VERY unsure about this phone

I got this phone because my A900 has been acting crazy and I was up for a 1 year upgrade with Sprint, and basically because I'm lazy and didn't feel like dealing with the Insurance to get a replacement. Now I do like the look of the phone and the fact that the video ringer actually plays on the outside of the phone is very cool, but I don't think I'm gonna keep this phone. I am too worried about breaking the front screen and with the work I do thats a big possibility. I would love to find out if there was an upgrade to the A900 because I do prefer that phone. The V9m is nice looking, speaker phone is good, camera is OK, and volume is good, but I don't like the text messaging (no smileys?!?! c'mon now) and the fact you cant change the outside touch keys is annoying. Maybe one day I'll get a phone like this, but right now I just want to stick with Samsung.

Not a bad phone (verizon version)

Oct 9, 2007 by edamon

I've owned the phone now since it's release date. My previous phone was the Razr V3C, which I owned longer than any phone previously.. it just worked.

The Razr2 is similar enough to the previous version that the learning curve is pretty much nil. The build quality is quite nice compared to the old V3C and the call quality is excellent, as is reception.

That being said, it's going to be replaced with the Pearl when it comes out this month. Right now I carry both the Razr2 for voice calls and a Motorola Q for email (can't get used to talking into what looks like a calculator), plus the Q is a little big to carry around, mostly the width. So it sits in the car mostly. The pearl just fits the bill.. it's the same size as the razr and has email. 2 devices into 1 is always nice.

Pro's:

-build quality
-call quality
-reception (I live in a spotty area and it's RF is as good as anything I've used in the past - including the V710 and E815
-screen clarity

Con's:

-battery life isn't that great, especially if you're on the phone a lot.
-requires a new charger or mini-usb to micro adapter for your old chargers.
-rocker buttons -- they are way too flush with the phone, I find I have to actually turn the phone to the side to find them.

All in all, it's a great phone. It'd be a keeper if I wasn't trying to consolidate down to 1 device.

Is it worth the $249 asking price? not really.. $149-$179 imo is where the price spot should be. End of the day, it's just a better built razr V3C (or V3M).

Motorola RAZR2 V9m (U.S. Cellular)

Sep 28, 2007 by Myke.g82

I just purchased the US Cellular version of the v9m, and I'm pretty please with it so far.

PROS:
*Large Internal and External Displays
*Easy to Use Music Player
*Upgradeable Memory using MicroSD cards
*Solid Construction
*Very Aesthetically pleasing
*Uses Motorola's UI tailored for US Cellular
*Recent calls accessible from front screen

Cons:
*The built in email function is missing, though email can still be checked via USC's Easy Edge Service.
*Battery has to be removed to access memory card slot.

It apears that the U.S. Cellular version of the v9m is pretty similar to Alltel's, the good thing is you get a great CDMA v9m without Verizon's lousy interface, the bad is that I feel the phone should do a little more than it allows. All in all it's a great phone, I paid 409.99 retail with no contract from U.S. Cellualr which seems to be less than all the other carriers.

Damn sexy hardware, crap software

This is a damn sexy phone. If I could make love to a phone this would be it.

its outstanding for size, feel, colors, etc.

but once you turn it on, its ALL down hill...

The screens are HUGE! amazingly huge!

but all the fonts are size 1... MICRO fonts on a 2" screen! why?! Because the VZW UI is crap...

picture ID shows up maybe the size of a DIME, what a horrible waste of the screen.

the caller's name shows up again font size 1, so small you need a microsope on a screen big enough to read from space with the right font.

someone needs smacked for this UI. I paid for a $470 phone, where the hell is it?

If I can't flash it to the altell firmware; its going back.

$400 or $50 phone... its all the same to VerCrappy....

the only reason I stay with Verizon is the CDMA voice quality is unmatched. GSM drops calls ALL the time, cuts in/out... no thanks!

If you want a phone; this is it, if you want features; stay away from the verizon UI... I have bitched and bitched to them about it... nothing back.

Awesome phone for Sprint

Sep 5, 2007 by Ohiost328

I was checking this phone out at work and playing around with it and needless to say I am impressed.

Some of the things that stood out on this phone are obviously the outside lcd, which is amazing. I did notice that the vibration feedback was a bit subtle but the phone is so thin.

This phone is similar to the ic902 which uses the different operating system. I think it is linux based but am not sure, anyways its great for sprint.

After reading other entries on here, this phone must be different on verizon. I must say after seeing those and my friends verizon phone that UI stinks hands down. That is the carriers imput on the phone. For Sprint, there is no stinky UI.

NICE PHONE VERY DELICATE AS WELL

The phone is nice but I have had it for 5 days and I've already cracked the outside screen. Mind the phone did not have any significant drops or anything. My old phone was the E-815 which can take abuse but apparently not this one. The battery life is not very good at all. The screen is difficult or next to impossible to see on a very sunny day and the speaker phone is average at best. Don't get me wrong the styling on the phone is beautiful and the two screens look awesome indoors not so outdoors. As for the phone features haven't really finished exploring all of them. I am still trying to reconfigure the contact list I don't know if you can though. As far as the reception on the phone it is excellent I live in a condo the generally has poor reception regardless of carriers especially non verizon and I have yet to drop a call.

Almost Perfect

Hi, as promised Sprints Razr 2 v9m review. Sent the Katana DLX back, received Razr 2 27 August 2007. Compared to Samsung MM A 940. I won't get into technical data which is throughly covered by Phone-scoop. PROS: This phone has the greatest fit and finish of any phone out there, all metal finish, combination of stainless steel, hardened glass. Feels fantastic in the hand. I could out text the Katana DLX not so with this phone. Photos stored in phone or on transflash can be edited temporarily, zoom in, out, very nice feature. Back is metal but has a rubberized coating non slip. I have been looking for a phone that can do everything my trusty MM A940 does (First EDVO Phone on Sprint in 2005) this Razr 2 is almost right there only difference between the two A940 still wins with 7168 kbytes of internal memory compared to Razrs 6144, so close though. Samsung has voice to text capability, but Razr has user generated word storage. That makes it almost even. The Razr however is the thickness of the top clamshell half of the A940. Still I carry both. Major reason for returning DLX was choppy video recording, Razr's is flawless. Camera on Razr has faster shutter speed than A940 but colors are truer on the latter. CONS: No 3.5 headphone jack but Wirefly already has miniUSB headphones with mike for 19.95. They also sell Y MiniUSB so you could charge and listen to music if your still committed to wired headphones. This is really designed to be paired with Stereo bluetooth headphones such as Motorola's S-9. It has been reported on other sites that applications don't run properly but I have 25 applications downloaded from getjar.com and funformobile.com which all work fine. Also yesterday opera came out with operamini 4.0 beta 2 which works fine on this phone. Almost out of space, but in my opinion this latest Razr is one of, if not the best phone available. Thank You Sprint for not disabling 3 party apps.

Motorola VM9 on sprint

It's almost perfect! The only problem which really isn't a problem is the battery for some people. I have not had problems with moderate to heavy usage so I will not complain. The only gripe I have is smudges and it collects them with ease. Everything else call quality, camera functionality looks are all great to me. I also like how it feels not to lite well almost perfect! Way to go Moto and Sprint!!!!
