Sidekick Lacking
I was enticed by a promotional rate with T-Mobile on this phone.
The good news is that it only took a few minutes to realize the phone isn't for me.
Pro:
Size - you won't forget which pocket it's in. With 6" of length, 3" of width and a weight of at least 3 lbs the Sidekick is a constant reminder that "Size Does Matter."
Easy text messaging.
Excellent Camera
Easy to use music player
Cons:
Very difficult to hear and the speaker sounds like it was made by Mattel - very poor quality.
Size of course is a down side.
Having to flip the screen in order to make a call is very disturbing, touch dialing would make the phone so much easier to use. Rather you will need to flip the phone, use the tiny little numbers to dial or you can use the on-screen numbers by rolling the mouse which is even more frustrating.
Sidekick has their own network requiring $20/month to use. No T-Zone is available from this phone. Very disappointing...
Overall the Sidekick didn't deliver.
its ok... i guess
the sidekick lx isnt a real good phone. it does have a full key pad, it does have an awsome camera, and it has an awsome music player.. but it freezes most of the time and is very fragile. so i prefer the sidekick slide over the lx.
What a Disapointment
Well i was really excited to get my sidekick lx because i thought hey i don't have to pay for texting anymore and i can save 15 bucks a month yay plus i was getting tired of blackberries the os was starting to get on my nerves plus i wanted a camera which blackberry isn't known for but i got this phone and here is what i thought
Pro's
nice looking screen
good size
you can preview things before you buy off the phone
ok camera
now let me get to what i didn't like
CONS
menus are now good and basic
battery life is horrible had to charge the moment i get home from work
reception not as good as my blackberry
swivel screen sometimes stuck
lost connectivity with my blue tooth headset
In closing this is a fun phone for kids but if you require actual data and need a workhorse kinds phone this isn't it stick with a blackberry or a pocket pc
disappointed
I am very disappointed with this phone! Let me start off by saying that I've been a loyal sidekick user since 2004. I started off with the sidekick 2 and just recently upgraded to the sidekick id. The reason I considered it an upgrade was because I was so glad that I didn't have a camera. My cousin had the sidekick 3 and complained about the reception. I never had that problem with the id. So, here's my review:
PRO'S:
* The phone is beautiful...looking
* The screen is HUGE! Its like a small flat screen!
* web pages are amazing!
* this is not a pro about this phone in particular cause ALL the sidekicks have this feature, but, if you like myspace, you can download a feature that give you your own sidekick page. This way, you don't have to go to through the internet to log on. You'll instantly know if you got a message or comment. But as I said, this feature is exclusive to all sidekicks!
thats about it!
CON'S:
* bad reception
* battery life is not so great// the id lasts twice as long!
* the camera is no improvement on the sidekick 2 or 3. Still 1.2 MP
* As I write this, I have been waiting to log on to aol for 30 minutes. The id took roughly a minute to sign on.
* I am a texting whore! With this phone it sometimes take hours for a text to be received by another person. I've tested this by sitting next to my boyfriend and sending him a text and waiting til the next day for him to receive it!
* speakerphone! It is awful! That is probably my biggest gripe! even if the speakerphone didn't work, I'm a fan of earpieces over bluetooth earpieces. This phone doesn't have a jack for a earpiece! Again, it bears repeating, speakerphone is awful!!!
* I'm still waiting to sign on to aol!
I LOVE sidekicks! But this phone really tests your patience! If you don't care about speakerphone, texts, or connecting to your emails, then this phone is for you cause its beautiful.
However, if you prefer something reliable without all the bells and whistles then get the id!
