All style, no substance, overpriced

I'm a dealer and played around this phone. Here is my take on it...

The phones looks are gorgeous. Theres no denying that. Samsung always knows how to make a great looking phone.

Unfortunately what Samsung does is take away useful features. This phone doesn't have voice dialing/recorder. Samsung inclues these features on every one of their models for Sprint. What gives here?

The camera takes great pictures. Almost as good as the Nokia 3650 believe it or not. What good are they when you can't use them for Picture Caller ID on the outer display. Again, Samsung gave a Sprint a model with a 256 external display. Why not T-Mobile?

The recpetion on the handset is okay. Nothing to brag about. My gripe with Samsung is that they seem to have a problem with the volume. It's not loud enough and while driving, any touch of a breeze will completely drown out the voice of the caller on the other end making it difficult for communications. The S105, S307 and V205 all the same problem.

Also for the $300 price tag T-Mobile is asking for it, Samsung could have at least implemented an updated menu system over the V205. It's exactly the same boring interface features on the V205 model. You should see the menus on their Sprint phones. They're much better than this and their phones are cheaper in price!

So basically in a nut shell, all this phone is, is a V205 with a OLED outer display and flash minus the 1800Mhz capability of the V205!

All in all, this phone does absolutely nothing but take pics. For $300 you could go out a buy yourself a decent digital camera.

Save your money and get a phone with more functionality. Get the Motorola V300. It gets better reception, has more features, a slightly brighter screen and a better menu interface.

EXCELLENT

This phone is amazing! I love the way the phone looks! The best part about the phone is the EXCELLENT COLOR DISPLAY!!! The reception in New York is good as well as the friendly customers service from T-Mobile! I really don't have any complaints about the Samsung E715 camera phone or the T-Mobile service! I love them both that's why I didn't switch service providers!

not so good

I exchanged this phone for a Sony Ericsson T610 after having it for a day. A friend of mine went to buy it and was told by the dealer that three people had returned the phone earlier that day and advised him to buy a cheaper phone. If you don't mind a bit of menu slowness, have no intention of using it as an organizer, and don't mind paying a premium for a cool looking phone and tasteful ringtones to replace the awful ones it comes with, go for it.

Pros:
-Intuitive menu system, with intuitive number-based shortcut system
-Good phone functionality
-Lightweight
-Stylish

Cons:
-only 30 appointment notes can only schedule a start time (no end time, no alarm time)
-a 30MB download for PC sync software gets you something that doesn't sync with MS Outlook, can't parse phone numbers with standard separators (like parenthesis and dash)
-no increasing ring volume option
-all the ringtones are absolutely tasteless and offensive
-Rubber charge port cover feels very flimsy
-Ir is reported not to work with other phones. (not verified)
-Keys indistinguishable by touch
-very slow on phone software
-strange placement of WAP access button
-too expensive for what you get

Fabulous

The phone is kickin! Great features, awesome large color screen display, very light in weight and size, and the phone looks cool.

So much flavor

Awesome Phone. Hands down one of the quickest most technologically advanced flips.
The only "con" to this masterpiece is the appearance. It looks like a taser from a bad star trek episode... I have managed to overcome that little obstacle and I love the phone.

Its OK

This phone is just OK. First off the price is really high. I don't like the exterior appearance very much due to its lack of external antenna (also greater chance of brain cancer with this type of internal antenna). I do like the OLED exterior display (too bad they copied the LG VX 6000). The camera is the standard 640 by 480 lens- its works pretty well. Lastly I believe that the major defect of this phone is its service carrier. T Mobile has still not improved there despicable service. They continue to bring out high-tech phones but do not strive to create a high-tech network.

Falling short

I brought this phone because of the reviews on this site.
The first hour I put my sim card in and started uploading my info I notice the same numbers on my phone, one on my sim and one on my phone memory.
both show up on the phone. And when you transfer your phone book info on the phone it is saved as mobile.
You are not allowed to Edit the category (Home, work).
To put it in the right category you have to re-inter every number by hand. I called samsung they said they where not aware of this problem and that samsung would have to send a fix thur t-mobile.
