Best phone I've had

Sep 28, 2005 by coconutt

Pros:
-Best speakerphone I've used. I just turn it on and walk around with my phone on my shoulder. Most comfortable handsfree device ever, right?
-Memory expansion. I just ordered a 1GB MMC card. You can convert video and audio files for watching/listening on the go. You can get a stereo headphone on ebay for better sound.
-Replaceable covers. Who cares about scratching the screen? Just spend 5 bucks and get a new cover.
-Bluetooth. I've ordered an MMC reader for faster large data transfer, but bluetooth is awesome for quick contact/calendar syncing. Syncs about twice as fast as my Siemens S56.
-Camera.Decent pictures in good light. Even decent video with enough light. This VGA(640x480)is about 10 times better than my Moto MPx220 camera (1.3megapixel? What a joke)
-Misc. AIM is nice when you're bored, FM radio (headset must be attached as antenna), Media & Music Player, nice Golf game included. Quick access to calendar, easy to make quick notes and alarms.

Cons(the FEW):
-Navigation button takes getting used to, make sure you use OEM keypad. I hated it at first but love it now.
-Phonebook. Always displayed as First name first, unless you input them backwards. Annoying if syncing with outlook. I like to have Last name first.
-Multiple recipient SMS. You have to send it to one recipient at a time. It would be nice if you could just pick a bunch of names and it sends them all at once.
-Battery life. I get about 5-6 hours talk time (I talk to my girlfriend at night for about 8 hours straight and I have an extra battery). I only get about 2-3 days standby, depending on signal and use of course. This is fine for me, I have an extra battery if I won't have a charger for a few days. You can pick one up on ebay for less than 10 bucks.

I haven't used the internet on it, so no opinion on that. I haven't been more satisfied with a phone since my classic Nokia 5165 (WHAT A BEAST). Highly Recommended.

Great Phone

Oct 20, 2004 by bmega

I bought this phone for full price from nokia and it is quite impressive for such a small phone. The sound quality is also surprisingly good. I have been using the Moto v400 since it came out so I was doing a little comparing...everything on the Nokia is better except:
-back cover is tough, but how often do you remove and replace it?
-the color is not quite as bright and crisp as my other phone. I was viewing some wap web sights that have full color icons on my v400 but are distorted black and white on the 6230-not sure why.
-the alarm is quiet-I tried using louder ringtones as the alarm notification, but it automatically reduced the volume in alarm mode.
-the middle selection key is a little frustrating especially if you have a big thumb. You will scroll up or down instead of "selecting". But it is something that you can get used to.
Otherwise everything else is great. If I hadn't become a big fan of the flip I would definitely keep this phone, period.

BANGIN phone for the price! get one!

After three weeks of debating over phones and which one to get for $99 or less, I was introduced to the Nokia 6230. The other options on the table for me were the Siemens S66, LG F9100, and Nokia 3220. After seeing the features list on this phone, the choice was clear as a bell.

I have been a Nokia user ever since becoming a cell customer. I am now on my third Nokia phone, and have no intention to switch or even investigate another brand's options. I first had the 3390 and then the 3595.

Bluetooth, bluetooth, bluetooth. What more can I say? This technology, combined with the Nokia PC Suite software, allows you to completely sidestep the "ringtone and wallpaper stores". Within 15 minutes of having the phone synced to my PC over bluetooth, I had custom caller ID images for the majority of my contacts, a great wallpaper that I made myself, and custom high quality MP3 ringtones for my three caller groups. Granted, I am an advanced level user, but most people can figure this out easily. The software is very straightforward (and free!).

Next up for me is a stereo headset, a new faceplate (to get off the default one that comes with the phone), and a 512MB or 1GB memory card. This baby is going to be my iPod. Solid-state memory (such as the MMC option on this phone) destroys a physical harddrive (like what the iPod has) any day of the week. No moving parts = no chance for the entire thing to take a crap on you if you happen to drop it. Sorry, Apple!

--::-::-- PRO's --::-::--
- Bluetooth (huge)
- MMC memory up to 1GB (huge)
- MP3 iPod style playback (huge)
- mp3 ringtones
- voice recorder (great for notes / interviews)
- radio (if youre bored with your mp3's haha)
- camera (good in daylight, crappy in bad light)
- speakerphone (ppl cant tell you're on it, which is great)
- caller ID images
- EDGE
- customizable "go to" menu on main screen

--::-::-- CON's --::-::--
- radio only works with headset
- screen is small
- no flash on cam
- "go" button on keypad

Damn Good Phone!

Dec 27, 2004 by SupaDre

I was forced to switch from my former phone (Nokia 8260) which worked quite well to the Nokia 6230, reason being that our service provider is discontinuing the TDMA network. At first I was blown away by the V600 Motorola largely because of its design and large screen size. But there was also a toss up between that and the Nokia 6620 (which also has a larger screen). But since I was always a Nokia fan and I prefer a smaller phone, I came around to the 6230.

This is an excellent phone, and the picture quality is great. I find that its even better when you zoom after the shot. The menus are more responsive that the Motorola V300,(possibly the 600 too but I never used one. I like the fact that I can record video with sound for up to 4 minutes.

To those who wish to purchase this phone. The picture quality by default is set to medium. And there is a protective green translucent cover stuck on to the camera. So if you just start taking photos without this knowledge you may think that the quality is poor.

Pros:
Excellent sound quality with both the headset and the loudspeaker.
Night mode for photographing at night.(which works very well.)
Sharp screen.
The 3D car racing game.
Very easy to use menus(navigation is a breeze)

Cons:
My only con with the phone is the Five-way scroll and selection key. It takes some getting used to. I think that the middle should have been a separate button rather that having one button for 5 functions. You have to press directly down for selection and I often press up or down first by mistake.

Brilliant, masterpiece

Using this phone with AT&T as the provider.
This thing is amazing. Very small, light and simply great.
Pros: Bluetoooth, IR, USB connectivity, MMC card, Nokia PC Suite, FM Radio, MP3 player,..and many more.
Cons: Difficult backcover.

Satisfied completely with Nokia 6230

Aug 3, 2005 by axess_denied

I am a huge fan of this phone. Nokia was able to intorduce a handset that not only addressed the high-end prosumer's requirements but was able to do it affordably. Here's what I thought:

Pros:
- Bluetooth - Who doesn't want it?
- Expandable Memory - Why have a camera if
you are expected to store all of your
photos on 2 to 5 MB of space?
- Camera/Video - Decent resolution and not
as "choppy" as some others.

Cons:
- Display Contrast/Brightness - A little
difficult to see outside, and text is
hard to read against some wallpapers.
- Vibrate - Vibrates quite soft, not a
bad thing, but it sucks if you require a
really good vibrate notification.

Compact, Clean & Clear phone

This is my 3rd Nokia phone over the past 5 years and its definitely the best:

Pros:
*Bright Screen,
*small size,
*clean user interface
*removeable/upgradeable memory card
*PC interface software free and easy to use
*standard Nokia power connector - still can use my 5 year old car adapter
*very clear reception

Cons:
*Select Button (5-way) is difficult to learn how to select the center position (but learnable over a week or so of practice).
*short battery life 3 days without blutooth, 1 day with blutooth on

I love Nokia

Jun 17, 2005 by orca000

I previously had an LG L1150. That phone gave me nothing but grief, and I was starting to miss having a Nokia phone, so I splurged and purchased the Nokia 6230.

I couldn't be happier with my decision. This little phone is chock-full of features. The call quality is excellent, I always have a full signal, camera pictures are very clear (compared to my LG phone).

PROS - Call Quality, Camera, Video Capture, E-mail, Radio, Bluetooth, Nice Choice of Ring-tones, Wallpapers and Screen-savers, and more...

CONS - None, Nada

I'm back with Nokia and I'm here to stay. I highly recommend this phone. Buy it if you're thinking about it. You won't regret it.

Love it, but has a few flaws.

The Nokia 6230 is one of the best Nokia's I've ever had.

PRO's
* Bluetooth is lovely, easy to setup. I type all my information in my pda and send it over through bluetooth.
* EDGE through Cingular is fast, and pictures on the Internet are clear.
* MP3, love it.
* Sound, very loud.
* (Record feature)Love to record directions from people without having to write it down.
* (Go to menu) great, easy setup without having to search through the menu.
* Nokia wireless headset rings the same ring tones that you have set to your phone, Cool.

CON's
* The screen blinks out every now and then.
* Dust under the screen
* Only 1 changeable face plate that's real and won't fade.
* texting can suck, no feature for numbers in the text box.
* MMC is behind the battery, who wants to take the battery out. \
