Poor Phone
I have endured this phone for 8 months. This phone is so ergonomically incorrect, it hurts me. Why would you put a ptt button on top of a phone? Then put the speakerphone button on the side where you are constantly accidently turning it on and off. Back to the ptt button, its cheap design causes it to stick open occassionally. Having had Nextel, I came into Verizon knowing not to have high expectations, but please I get ptt unavailable nearly half of my attempts even though I am in 6 bar strengths areas. There is either something wrong with these phones or is not keeping the ptt system a priority. I have already notified Verizon if they don't introduce a new ptt phone with bluetooth (which all other phone companies currently offer) I will be leaving at the end of my contract. If ptt is important to you do not bother. Cell side just fine.
Good speakerphone, otherwise nothing special
Using the LG 4650, Verizon:
The call quality and volume using the earpiece are quite good. The speakerphone volume and clarity are pretty good, but, certainly, not as good as holding the phone in your ear. The thing I didn't like about this phone, which is probably why I won't be keeping it, is that the volume using the headset is too low. I tried many headsets with it, and none are as loud as with the LG V6100 or LG 7000.
Also, there's no camera, and a small screen with limited choices of wallpaper.
Indoors the speakerphone would probably be adequate, but for using it while driving, I could certainly answer the phone in speakerphone mode, but not plan to talk to anyone for any length of time.
The Pros:
Call clarity/volume on ear-piece great
Reception is great
Speakerphone volume fairly clear and loud
Lightweight
Easy to use
Cons:
No camera/bluetooth/ or vcast
Volume using headset is inadequate
Small display screen
Limited selection of wallpaper for display
If you plan to use a headset for a lot of your calls, don't get this one. Otherwise, if you don't mind the lack of camera and bluetooth, it's pretty good overall. But I'd choose the LG 6100 over this.
VX-4650 Speaker phone NOT SOOO GOOD
At first I would have rated the phone a 4+. What took it down a notch is the contact list voice activation. The first number entered for the contact when the contact is created is dialed, be it the office, cell or home. What you have to do is live with this or create muliple contacts for the same person, such as; "Johnny Home", Johnny Office, etc.
I chose this phone because of the great reviews like on this site, because I cannot have a camera phone (due to my work) and my requirement was for a speaker phone for use in the car. This is where the problem is and why I rated it a one. When the phone is on speaker, the other party hears their voice echoing back thru the 4650. The phone should have hardware or software logic that shuts off the mike when sound is coming thru the speaker. Not working so good.
I've tried two phones in the last week and will try my third phone tomorrow and then one there after until my 15-days that I have with Verizon is up for a new phone swap. Hopefully I can find one that works.
Oh, another thing. When the phone is off and I plugged it into the charger, the phone turns on.
This phone sucks!
This phone is terrible. The audio quality of the few PTT sessions I have done have been poor and choppy and add to the fact that this phone is so ugly makes it overall a horrible phone.
LG VX-4700
That second button on the left-hand side ruins the entire phone for me. That's where my thumb needs to rest.
The LG VX 4650
I recently purchased this phone, and overall it's a good no frills phone. The one thing that I do notice is that the internal screen is really not that bright, even if you adjust the setting on it. Does anyone else feel this way who owns this phone? Also, seems to be quite slow. Say for example when I am looking through pix, and different sites, it's very pokey. Is it just my phone, or has anyone else experienced this problem? Other than that it is a sturdy phone, yet lightweight, good feel in the hand, nice size, although I do wish the internal screen was bigger. Loud speaker, and loud ringers. Reception is great also. I am pretty much satisfied with it except for the things I mentioned. Plus I am a sucker for silver phones. They just look classy to me. So can someone respond who has been having these issues, that I posted above? Thanks, any feedback would be appreciated!
