LG VX-5200 / 6200
Average Ratings
Not Bad....
Pros:
Much better than my old Kyocera 2135 in all respects.
Signal and sound quality are both excellent. I'm currently using Verizon and previously, I couldn't get a signal in my office with T Mobile. I've had no such problems with this current setup. I'm located in Corvallis, OR.
I like the Caller ID on the exterior of the phone.
Cons:
Don't like the antenna sticking out. Also, the Left/Right/Up/Down device for moving around the menus is rather small.
Overall, not too bad for a "free" phone.
I want to like it!
I got this phone about a week ago after first getting the LG 3300. I wanted a phone with an outside display, more options, etc. I've had motorola phones for the last few years and I wanted to try something new. I really love the design of this phone. I think it looks very nice and the keys are great.
But, the high pitched noises are driving me crazy. Also, there's some other weird noise when I use it, it's like blank static. It makes me feel like I have a headache everytime I use it. I switched from T-Mobile to Verizon because T-Mobile had such terrible reception, but now I have this different problem.
I exchanged this phone tonight for the same model, hoping that I just got a bad phone. It works just as bad. I don't know if I want to deal with this for the next few years so I may just get another model, but all Verizon phones seem to have major problems!!!
I would not advise someone to get this phone unless they are not bothered by a lot noise during conversations.
vx7000?
wtf? Its the vx7000 with out the video and rotating lens, but like alot crappier. I don't lek it I sent it back am useing my old vx7000 untill my vx9800 comes in
Almost Perfect!
This is a real sleeper phone. I've been struggling to find a good phone and have been switching back and forth between the V276 and LG 8100. No more. The 5200 is a keeper.
Pros
-Outstanding RF. I'm surprised this doesn't get more 'pub'. In my weak PCS area it pulls a better signal in my house (-096 vs -099) than either of the other 2 phones. Same story at work.
-Very well built. Sturdy construction. Strong hinge. Typical great LG elegant design.
-Excellent speakerphone. On par with the 8100's.
-Quick menus.
-Great voice commands
-Excellent Battery life.
-Tri-mode
Cons-just a couple
-Camera is admittedly weak-I'll never use it.
-Slight background noise which I think relates to the backlight-not much of an issue.
I highly encourage folks to check this phone out as an inexpensive tr-mode wonder.
Decent phone.
This is not a bad phone.
PROS
Solid construction
I think the phone looks good
New Verizon/LG UI is better than most others
Good battery life
Call quality is decent
CONS
Reception is just ok, could be better
Speakerphone is quiet
Camera sucks - everything is grainy and greenish, I've seen much better VGA phone cameras
Not a bad phone
I just got this phone 2 days ago with my New Every Two discount after having owned the LG VX6000 for 2 years.
PROS:
-Well built
-Camera has a flash
-Lighter and a little smaller
-Has a speakerphone
-Calls are loud and clear
-MUCH easier to create and send text messages...on the 6000 the keys tended to stick, plus the person's phone number and the message field are on the same screen.
CONS:
-Camera quality could be ALOT better...I know it's a phone and not a digital camera, but I have to say the 6000 had better picture quality
-There's no shortcut for voice/text messages...you have to go into the main menu
-HORRIBLE selection of ringtones/wallpapers...if you want anything more, you have to use Get It Now
But other than the cons, there have been no major problems and I really like this phone alot.
LG 5200
I've had this phone for 7 days now and I'm about to pack it up and ship it back to Verizon. This phone is nice however my main problem is the sound quality. Ive always owned Nokia phones and their sound is great. I was going to keep this phone since I like the features but I just cant get use to the sound. I took it to a Verizon tech to see if it can be adjusted, he stated the LG phones sounds like that. I cant keep it...now I cant figure out what phone to switch to. I have been with AT&T WS for years; now they are gone and I have to find someone to switch to. I live in NC and the reception is good on the LG5200, just don't like the sound.
Pros:
small and light
GREAT FEATURES
speakerphone
Cons:
fonts are small even after increasing them to the max
POOR SOUND QUALITY
poor camera quality (did not buy it for the camera)
Humm...
This phone is my dads phone(5200), but i had to use it for a week right after i moved in with him. So i thought i would give it a review!
PROS:
Slim
good looking
good menues
GREAT reception (colorado)
external screen is color
both screens are easy to see
key pad lights up blue
txt msging is easy
fun themes
easy and fun to cuztomize
keypad is layed out very nice
outside LCD can be used 4 self portates
phone feels very sturdy
ringtones are loud
the vibrating alet is very...feelable
CONS:
First off i have to say the camera on this phone is so bad, ive owned 3 other camera phones and the 5200's is by far the worst i think i have ever seen. u have to wait a few seconds be4 u take the pix cuz it wil turn out green, very weird.
after talking on the phone for more then a few min it makes this high piched noise.
So thats my review of this phone, i like LG's very much, but i dont feel they are a very good phone, with all the new technolgies comming out in new phones i dont think LG is keeping up very well. But if u are just a normal person looking for a normal phone this phone is for u. seeming u can only get this phone with verizon (CDMA) its a shame, the united states is so far behind in cell phone technoligy. in Europe or asia there is no such thing as CDMA, they only work off of GSM, and i think that GSM phones are much better. but thats just my opinion, i have had 9? (i think, ive lost count) phone with verizon, and i think that their phones are junk, but i might just have horrible bad luck with cell phones, who knows, hopefully i can find the right phone soon and my curse will be broken :-)
LOVE IT
I had the LG VX 6000 for three years and it was the best phone I've ever owned! I decided to try something new, the Samsung SCH A850. I had it for one day and returned it. Reception was horrible I only had two bars while my LG VX 6000 had all five. So I exchanged it for the LG VX 5200 and what a difference. I knew I should have stuck with LG.
Pros:
easy menu.
nice LCD front.
light weight.
Cons:
not a lot of ring tones.
camera quality is o.k.
i'm always hitting the buttons on the side when i'm talking.
Good Little Phone!
I've been a verizon customer for about 1 year now. I've had all the services and Verizon is definitly the best BUT They have the worst Phones in the world.
I've seriously owned almost all the phones from the last year:
Moto v265 / v276
Moto V710 / E810
LG vx 6100 / 8100
Samsung Sch-a850 / a670
The LG VX5200 isn't the greatest as far as features go but if oyu want a sloid easy to use nice phone then this fits the bill.
I think i like it so much because it seems to remind me of my favorite phone EVER which was the Moto V600 when i was with ATT.
Pros:
Light
good battery life
camera good enough for a phone
Solid housing
soft clear speaker!
Cons:
Can;t clos phone while in speaker mode...
Hope this helped!
