Some 3rd party apps don't play well with WM6

Tilt

I got this phone for Christmas and I like it quite a bit. I use it more as a media gadget more than a mobile office device. There is a good amount of support as well.

The keyboard is a little different because the keys are kinda hard to grip... Also the "Today" layout of the phone is a little too small to be easy to use. I use HTC Home, a plugin for mobile 6 that makes the touch screen buttons a lot more easy to use. Overall I'm very happy with it.

Great Phone!!

Not gonna rehash what others have said, except TONS of features. Almost a laptop replacement.

Great phone with some minor nuances

PROs
*Overall it's a great PocketPC Phone.

CONs
*Everything in Windows mobile seams like it take 3 extra taps or clicks than necessary. Does the OK button select or close? Then why does it say "OK" on it.

*The pen seems like it's on the wrong side. This phone is pretty much set for righties but the pen needs to be inserted to the left side when in landscape. Damn it's annoying! Why does the device even open with the buttons on the left? I actually prefer it this way cause you can hot button why still holding the stylus but when are they going to make up their minds?

*PTT button non-mapable. I'd really like to map this to voice notes. I had Nextel for 10 years and so did all my friends. After texting became so popular no one really wanted to talk to each other like that anymore.

*Speaker is on bottom and pretty much muffled when on a table top. WTF?

*Why are the WinMo soft keys on the keyboard so tiny and right under the touch screen buttons? I can just click the touch screen buttons already. I kind of liked having them at the left and right edge of the keyboard.

*Why did they make the camera so crappy? Why have auto focus with no flash. Me sad :*(

*AT&T nickel & dimes for every little feature.

NOT BAD AT ALL

I have had this pda for about one week and so far so good. This is my tenth pda so I have been doing this for a while.

Pros:
Wifi
Small and lightwieght
Tilt screen
Price

Cons:
Voice Dial
Battery Life
Camera

Most of the cons are usually associated with owning newer technology such as "PDA" phones.
All in all this is a great device.

Good fun so far.

I have used the phone for about two days now, and so far so good. I work in the industry and have tryed like 5 models from htc and so far this is the best. still slow but hey its Microsoft. I traded in my curve for this phone and so far i don't regret it. Phone is a little heavy, but what do you expect from a pocket PC. All in all good device, would recommend it to anyone looking for alot of phone. Just remember one thing this is a pda first phone second device.

I love the phone - AT&T network is another story

So the phone is fantastic. Yes there the usual quirks here and there but overall vast improvement from what I had before which was the Apache Verizon 6700.

Specific to the phone I like the feel - it's a little heavier but not tremendously so. The sliding on the other side I will have to get used to. WinMo 6 is nice.

I'm using Google Maps to play with GPS so I'm at the mercy of the AT&T data connection which is sluggish. And this is my biggest complaint which has me considering returning the phone: I thought HSDPA was supposed to be faster than EVDO. Verizon is considerably more consistent and faster than anything I'm getting from AT&T. I've been testing all over Midtown and Lower Manhattan and it's pretty crappy bandwidth compared to verizon.

I live in Park Slope Brooklyn which appears in their coverage map as having 3G service but I'm seeing nothing but E (Edge network).

Inferior product and support

Nov 10, 2008 by drc

Do not buy this phone. It fell apart within the first month. The rubber keys on the internal keypad were shaved off when I opened the phone. Product support and repairs through HTC will cause you unwanted aggravation and will cost you. HTC is difficult to deal with. Repairs take longer than they should and they ultimately caused more damage to my phone when it was in their possession and refuse to make the repairs unless I pay for it. Since the LCD screen is now damaged, the phone is useless to me.

Horrible, horrible phone

This phone has tons of bugs. Most people I know that own it have had to master reset the phone at least 3 times. And many are on their 2nd or 3rd REPLACEMENT Tilt. I would not recommend this phone to anyone.

PROS:
it makes a great, expensive paperweight!!!

CONS:
this phone is junk

A great phone!

Having been a PDA user for almost 10 years,
picking up the Tilt was a no brainer. Wanting to intergrate a phone & PDA, the Tilt was the choice I made. Purchased in Oct 07, no real issues. A bit lighter than my old PDA, but a lot heavier than my old cell phone (W810i).
Screen is VERY bright, easy to read. Button
placement is ok. I am a styli user, so I don't
use the keyboard unless I am hammering out a long email. With my fingers, the keyboard is a little small, but not that big of a deal.
I use bluetooth 99% of the time, and I've had no problems sync'ing to my Z9 & jawbone headsets,
as well as my laptop, and home computer, with it's picky usb bluetooth dongle.
I don't have 3G in my area, but edge works "ok"
and hooking to a wi-fi hotspot is no problem
at all.
The new at&t rom did help with the camera response, which was painfully slow, but the screen response is a little lagging.
I'm not a mp3 or video nut, so I can't comment on the abilities of those areas.
I use mine mainly for personal & business.
Pocket word, outlook & excel all work perfectly.
If you want a PDA, that actually works like a PDA, and a cell phone, this one is a good
choice.
