This is a Beautiful Phone!

Oct 5, 2005 by darlingnikki

I currently own the LG VX8100. It's a great phone. But the 9800, This phone is beautiful! I had a chance to try one out and I can honestly say that this phone rocks!
The screen is a nice size to watch video's. The speakers are nice and loud. Mp3's play great and the camera works perfectly and takes really nice pics!
If I hadn't just renewed my contract, I would buy this phone now! But I'm going to wait a few months and buy it then, when it comes down on price. Some might say it's a little hard to talk on, but I didn't find that. Besides with the bluetooth headset, you really don't need to touch the phone at all. All in all I give this phone a 5 and I will have this phone soon.

Excellent phone

This phone is by far the best phone ever made by any cell phone company. I've had it for over a year now and never had a single problem with it. It has everything you could ever want in a phone. The thing that pissed me off is that they tookt he MP3 player out of it so if I break mine and get a replacement I won't have a MP3 player anymore.

Pro's:

MP3 Player
QWERTY keypad
1.3 Megapixel camera (flash sucks though)
Bluetooth
VCast capable
Removable memory (MiniSD)
Stereo speakers when flipped open
Miniature laptop basically
Speakerphone
Text to Speech
list goes on and on

Con's:

People ALWAYS ask me "Is that a Sidekick?" and it pisses me off because the sidekick has to be one of the crappiest phones ever made. Never owned one but they are so bulky compared to this phone.
The flash sucks

There isn't an upgrade to this phone. Anything you get after this will be a downgrade unless it's a PDA phone. If you don't have this phone, get it ASAP.

NOT ONLY THAT!

THIS PHONE ALSO HAS A BUSINESS CARD READER. THIS IS A REALLY GREAT CAPABILITY FOR A LOT OF REAL ESTATE AGENTS OR OTHER BUSINESS ORIENTED PEOPLE WHO HAVE A LOT OF CONTACTS. SIMPLY HOLD THE CAMERA BUTTON FOR TWO SECONDS. AFTER TAKEN TO THE CAMERA SCREEN, SELECT OPTIONS. SELECT BUSINESS CARD READER, AT THE BOTTOM OF THE OPTIONS MENU TO TAKE A PICTURE OF THE BUSINESS CARD. THEN SAVE THE BUSINESS CARD TO YOUR CONTACTS! THE PHONE AUTOMATICALLY ZOOMS IN ON THE DETAILS IN THE BUSINESS CARD ITSELF, MAKING ADDING CONTACTS A BREEZE. NOT TO MENTION THIS PHONE STORES UP TO 500 CONTACTS! (YES I AM A VERIZON SALESPERSON)

Sweet Phone!

First of all I would like to say that this phone is absolutely amazing! Some Pro's-

-Great all around phone, it may look big and bulky but man can it do everything. First of all the camera is great 1.3 mega pixel is pretty darn good. The QWERTY keyboard not too small and easy to use. Buttons are nice and the side buttons for the camera and volume have a covering over the pictures so that they won't fade. Internet access is relatively quick. Expandable memory makes this phone even greater! It already comes well equipped with a 128mb internal memory, which for a phone is actually pretty large. (Compared to the new V3 Razrs which only have a 30mb internal memory) The speakers on the phone are excellent and have incredible sound! And the sound is adjustable with the digital equalizer, while playing mp3's. Standby time is good with no use over an 8 day standby time is pretty good, but with moderate use you can still get at least 3-4 days before having to completely recharge.
The speakerphone on this phone is pretty incredible. Sound is crystal clear and the person on the receiving end can understand well too. It's great for sending and recieving text messages. It even reads your e-mails and text messages outloud!

Cons-
Shutter speed on camera is relatively slow, but hey who cares if you wanted a camera go out and by a digital one. And LG should have added a cover over the camera, but if you're smart you'll take care of the "V" since it retail's at 429.99. One last thing that's bad about the phone, still relatively small is that it can only record up to 15 second video clips. But hey if you want a camcorder go buy one!

All in all, this phone is a great all around phone! It has a sleek look to it, and can pretty much do anything you want it to do. so I give the LG VX 9800 a 5.0 overall rating.

To Bad I Can Only Rate A 5...

Jan 11, 2006 by rent31800

This phone is much more then just a 5. The best phone I have ever had the Pleasure of using, and I have used alot of different phones. From every carrier there is. I left Cingular to Come to Verizon to get this phone and I am so happy I did that.

Pros:
Camera, great for a phone (after all it is a phone not a camera duh)

Load Rings

great quality sound for Games, V-Cast and MP3'S

Very fast Internet browsing
Strong vibrate

Big size, but not heavy

great call quality (set on low it is still loud enough when I am in the car)

Hasn't dropped a call yet

Cons:
Battery, lasts 2 days with alot of use. Fine for me, but some may complain.

Let me just say one more thing. This phone kicks the crap out of my old RAZR, I am so happy. Good Job LG, like always.

Awesome phone

The VX9800 is the best phone I have ever had. Even if you don't text or use mobile web often, this is a great phone. Unlike the previous QWERTY phone by LG, the 9800's QWERTY keypad can be used in any area of the phone, which comes is handy in areas such as the address book.

The EVDO functionality comes in handy if you want to use mobile web, or if you want to download apps through Get It Now.

With the EVDO and QWERTY keypad combined, this is one killer phone (I am actually writing this review on my phone right now).

In additional to all this, the phone has great reception. (I live in the SF Bay Area where there are many hills, and I still get great reception...even with EVDO)

This phone is a must buy.

this is my first phone so i have nothing to compare to, but this phone is so great!
there's so many features and everybody ohhs and ahhs. i think all the PROS have been covered in other respnses.
i have found no CONS!

Lg is god but Verizon sucks

Dec 14, 2005 by got_it

this phone is freakin awsome

Pros.
Great sounds
Great Screens
Great camera\camcroder
Great keyboard
Great size
GOOD reception
Menu set up is easy and user friendly
Same charger is xv 3300, 4650, 5200, 6100 7000, 8000, and 8100 so if you are upgrading from any of these phones you don't have to dig your old changer out from behind your computer desk like i was going to have to. This also mean it uses the same usb computer cord.

AND it has tiny tiny feet on the bottom of the phone so the back of the battery doesn't rub when you put it down.

Cons.
doesn't send mp3 sound to the blue tooth head set

A LITTLE on the heavy side

you cant get too all the menus or play games from the front screen which sucks for me because I used to stick the top screen out of my pocket on my old phones and play bowling in class and now its hard to do that :( but i suppose it shouldn't be doing that anyway so w/e

web Browser isn't that good it always sayes it lost network connection when I have full bars

Trying to get your contacts changed form your vx6100 to the 9800 is no freakin night in France

And the soft keys on the inside of the phone are way up by the top and someone with sausage fingers cant get to them easily

OVERALL

Verizon is crappy but the phone its self is good. V cast is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. I want MOVIES and TV SHOWS, not CLIPS and TRAILERS and I'm not sure if you can do this but you should be able to you should be able to download songs off of it I'm not sure if you can or not.

So basically Great Phone, Crappy service

Best VZW Handset

Dec 3, 2005 by igitman

I've had a lot of VZW phones. And this one definitely beats them all. For all the stuff that matters, this phone wins. Reception is incredible. All the spots my Moto 815 couldn't get, this one was able to make and keep all calls. Clarity is exceptional, as well. The screens are pristine, especially the inside LCD. And to my surprise, this phone can take some spills. The only reason I did not give a full 5 of 5 is because of the little things that aggrevate me...but they're so little that it really isn't a big deal at all. I will list the CONS as follows:
1)I hate ringers, I just want my phone to beep. This does it, but not as loud as my 815 (really not a big deal).
2) Not enough wallpaper selection (who really cares?)
3) Speaker only works when flip is open (this one kinda bothers me, but I know why the designers did this, so it's ok).
4)I hate verizon because they charge me 20 bux a month for wireless sync. (vcast stinks)
5)Business card reader is stupid, and it barely works. LG should've scrapped this and put a few more wallpaper selections in there.

Again, these criticisms are nothing really major. The phone is incredible, and as a former RadioShack employee of 4 years, and a VZW retail agent, this is the best phone VZW has. If I were to design a phone, it wouldn't have stupid features like an mp3 player or business card reader, but I forgive LG. It is VZW who are the scumbags for charging $20 bux to check my POP email. Even though you can check POP with one of the email clients, it works like crap, so you really need wireless sync.
Vcast is the dumbest piece of crap ever. It's mobile web plus 10 bux. That's all. At least mobile web doesn't use airtime when you have vcast, but still, c'mon.

9800 is the only phone you should buy if you want a phone that works. 815 in a close 2nd, and everything else a distant 3rd.
